Title: Newcomers...
Post by LuftwaffeZ14 on Dec 23rd, 2012 at 1:46pm
Two newcomers in our-family aviation (except my mom and sister, you know what I' m saying  ;D ) PZL-104 Wilga and Blanik L-13.

Don' t worry, repaired already, waiting for new, stronger engine, too heavy on take-off - engine is 10ccm.  :)

Finished beautiful glider, nice and stable while flying but if there' s no thermals he' s losing altitude very fast, weird beacuse he is only 1.3 kg and 2.7m wingspan.

Thanks for watching!  :) ;)

Looks like you are one talented busy person.

Well done on those two kits... :)

I recognised the the kit as a Blanik in the first picture without even reading what it was. Lovely aircraft and the only aircraft that has ever come close (really close, in fact very really close) to causing me to soil myself when the capabilities of the aircraft was demonstrated to me by doing an outside loop... :o Saying that, being in a CRJ200 that had uncommanded roll spoiler deployment 20 feet from touch down is a very, very close second............. ;D ;D

Seems to me that the Wilga will be fine once the engine is upgraded (That looks like an Enya muffler). They are a fine performer if built to a good power/wing  loading. As for the Blanik, take it to the slope for windy day flying - no need to add ballast if you couldn't build in "lightness"......wing loading is everything, especially when flying a high aspect ratio like that !

Here is a shot from my flying days....this was a Sagitta,  but modified a tad by me! Four servo wing with 25% chord flaps/ailerons - polyhedral modified too.

Thank you guys!  :) ;)
Yes, definitely windy day, this is a shot from the first and last flight (obligations  :( ) with a little bit of wind but not enough, that's why he seemed to be heavier than expected.
Flying hours are coming for him, I hope so!  :) ;)
