When flying low over LAX in the default C172, FPS shouldn't go below 20. It should hover around 20-25 and go up to 30-40 if you're looking away from the airport.

Have you already ordered the parts? If not, I strongly recommend that you swap the CPU for an i5 3570K, swap the motherboard for an ASRock Z77 Extreme4, and add a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO. You can overclock the 3570K to 4.3GHz, which would make it about 20% faster than the 3820, and give you noticeably higher framerates. It would save you some cash too.

With the 4.3GHz i5 3570K, you would get 25-30 FPS in the same circumstances where you would get 20-25 with the 3820.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. HERES WHAT I DID-I7-3570K OVERCLOCKED 10% . CANT GET CPU COOLER YOU HAVE SO WENT WITH COOL MASTER V6 INSTEAD. SYSTEM COMES WITH LIQUID COOLING ASTECK 510 1X120 MM FAN AND RADIATOR. WHICH IS BETTER. ASROCK Z77 EXTEREME 4 MOTHERBOARD. 8GB RAM . STAYED WITH 64GB BOOT DRIVE AND 2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK HDD. AMD 7870 2GB GRAPHICS CARD. CANT AFFORD 670 CARD OR EVEN THE 660TI. ALSO 24IN MONITOR. WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. ALITTLE OVER 1400 TTL INCLUDING SHIPPING AND TAX. WHAT DO YOU THINK? 128 GB SSD AND 500GB HDD PUT ME OVER MY BUDGET. CYBERPOWER WILL BUILD.

Looks good.

The liquid cooling should be better than the V6, but I'm not completely sure about that.

Seeing that your specs are better than mine, I expect you to get 40-50 fps steady. Highest number I ever saw on my system is 90fps at 20.000 feet over default terrain using REX HD clouds, Project Airbus A318, spot view, all settings at highest positions. But I think that's an exception. On average I get somewhere between 35-40 fps over default terrain and scenery. Get any traffic in there or complicated add-on scenery and it'll drop like a brick...

I often wonder, (as I frequently do), when the Microsoft engineers designed FSX way back in in 2006, if they realised the vast suns of money we would have to spend on computer hardware to successfully run the Flight Sim?

....and, are there any other old, or recent Computer Games, etc, out there, that demand such a high/expensive specification that FSX does?

I fear its going to be many Moons before I can sensibly afford the suitable Computer hardware to run my (unused) copy of FSX at the settings I would require/prefer!

Paul...FS 2004...(and FSX)... 8-)...!

Win 7 32 bit, 2005 Pentium P4 Dual 2.8 GHz + nVidia GForce 9500 GT 1GB. 2.5 GB System memory....and a 5-string Banjo... ;)...!

Fozzer,

I just replaced my old AMD dual core +4800, 2gig ram, ATI 4750 1 gig video for a new Quad Core AMD A 8, 12 gig ram. 1 T HD, 6530 ATI for less money than the dual core cost me 5 years ago.  :o
I've locked the FR to 25 FPS as required on the DVFC server and I get 24FPS

Another FPS hunt! (Sorry for this.)

Fps dont mean that much,
if you cant see what you want!

I get around 20 in very busy airports with my sys set to unlimited, but i never look at that number. I want "things" to show up nice and smooth, and if they dont, i'll correct my settings in the sim!

i7-950 quad
2 x gtx 460 Blackhawk Talon in sli
6 gb Corsair xms3 2000mhz
---

And Paul, now you are there again with your banjo ::) >:(

Hello Yan... :)...!

Some of my many musical instruments...>>>

Yamaha MO6,MM6,DX7,DX11,DX21,DX100,MK100,EMT10,PSR400,PSS780,Roland GW-8L v2,TR505,Casio MT-205,Korg CX3v2 dual manual,+ Leslie 760,M-Audio Prokeys88,KeyRig,Cubase,Keyfax4,Guitars,Orchestral,Baroque,Renaissance,Medieval Instruments.

U-Tube? ... ::)...Nope!... ;)...!
Most folks are more interested in watching television, so my musical renderings are directed entirely to myself, for my own amusement!

Paul... 8-)...!

Frame Rates? I get 30 FPS on my FS 2004 with one hand, whilst playing J.S. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor on my Hammond Organ with my other hand...
...probably...
