Title: FS2002 -> FSX
Post by BE58D on Oct 8th, 2012 at 1:24am
While this may belong more in the payware section than here.

But, I came across some payware aircraft for FS2002 that I bought long ago... Is it possible to run these in FSX?

Nope, most FS 2002 aircraft do not work in FSX. They do work in FS9 though I think.

Like Andy says, BE... ;)...

You are safer off just treating FSX as a completely different program from FS 2000, FS 2002, and FS 2004.
To avoid any problems, displays, etc, aim for add-ons, etc, specially designed for FSX.

Paul...FS 2004...and (FSX)... :)...!

I agree with Fozzer. Look around for aircraft with "True FSX" models. These are created specifically for FSX & will usually perform better in all respects compared with those from earlier versions of FS.

If you can't find an example of a specific aircraft then FS9 models will generally work well enough in FSX. They might need a few tweaks to display properly. I've had a lot of fun tweaking FS9 aircraft for FSX but this is purely for my own use & I wouldn't consider posting them.

In my FSX most of the airplanes here in the fsx category will work in fsx ok. I see a lot of these are from fs2004 originally but it's no problem in FSX if the tweaking is good.

Most of the default fs8 aircraft (172, 182, 777) will work in FSX. If it's an addon, it varies, depending on the model. What I'd be most worried about, though, are the gauges. If they were created for FS98 or earlier, they won't work, and it's extremely tedious to tweak your panels to use FSX-compatible gauges.
