Title: what if?
Post by alrot on Jul 3rd, 2012 at 2:13pm

I also decide to release another upgrade this time for the default FSX747?

Starting by removing the LCD main screen gauges ,and putting another one much more realistic as the real 747 has in real life

the 747 does not have open close pilot windows as in real life but it will have the rain texture windshield wiper effects and GPWS too

I have had my hard time fixing some the old gauges

these are some of the new features

I was a little bit inspired by a payware which I'm not going to mention I'm trying to make most of the switches and buttons of the upper head panel to how ever making some of them are quite hard ,example the "Hydraulic demand buttons which are not shown in all Flight simulator variable codes and I don't know what to do in this case

I don't need to hear about the payware ,all I can say I'm making a freeware that its more friendly to lower PC system ,the purpose of this cockpit its to improve the old Useless 747 VC

Looks awesome Alex. I know we'd all appreciate your hard work in an upgraded 747 'pit!  :)

I personally don't fly heavies but I do fly regionals like your 737 and MD-83 sometimes. ;)
I think it will be amazing!

:-/ thank you both xfalcon and jetprop ,I was about to delete this thread because the lack of feedback

:'( can't you understand people that we freeware designers feed with positive energies like oh great ,can't wait ??  :'(   also donation are helpful :-X ;D

I made a nightmap so some of the features will bright once you switch on Panel light.
Its weird that many features in the original FSX747 doesn't EVEN came up with nightmap like the 737 did  :-/

this pics will show what I have done to put some of the switches levers and buttoms to work ,THOSE WHO ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING AND REMAINS STILL ITS BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DO

Suggestions are welcome ,but no suggestion like why don't you make X buttom work? , try instead to help me what do I do according to the real aircraft ...in few words helping me

you wiill see a lot new features in the front panel and sides ,but this Upper panel has gave me a really hard time ,its very complex ,Of course before you said anything go to FSX and see the original NONE of this area works at all

thanks

Alex

That 747 pit from MS is one of their more underdeveloped cockpits. It'll be awesome to have a more comprehensive cockpit for the 747. I can't wait to finally be able to use the overhead panel in the ol' 747! Lookin good Alex!

I love the features you mention in the pictures. If you need a beta tester i can help if you want. I have a question: Can you make inside views o passenger area's with tv's and seats the can move and that kind of stuff. I usually get a bit bored when i'm on a autopilot flight!

That'd be a bit much I think, cabins are realy hard things to make!

actually they are not that hard jetprop , there are not movable (animations) things neither complex drawings ,Its easy it would take me a half of a day
I thought it also to include a cabin for the 737,(Pete was the one who suggest me that) I build a raw cabin and I start to see the drastic amount of poligon countdown, and then I decided not to include this I decided to see how the 737 upgraded cockpit was going to work for the people first

more poligon ,more weight into system ,memory ram video ram =less frame rates

due that the purpose of the upgrades its to fix and improve I would leave both cabins (747,747) for a future updates ,like and additions ,but it wont be in their releases    ;)

Nice to know that it gives you slow FPS, i don't have the best PC ever so i rather use a beautiful VC with good FPS then a nice VC and a cabin and bad FPS!!  ;) ;) ;)

Hi again Alejandro,

I made the first tests of the cockpit. Things went relatively well I have to say, but I'll need more time to do more tests. So far, the only issues I have spotted are:
- the APU makes no noise, there is no way to tell if it's running or not ? (no light, no indication...)
- the left wiper texture looks strange, the right one looks good.
- the hydrolic switches (hyd and hyd demand) are functionnal, but I have no idea what they are supposed to do
- if the default flight has mixture set to zero, the engines won't start (engine starter will spin forever but engines won't start until CTRL+F4 is pressed).
- the taxi lights are not visible on the external model
- the NAV lights are activated only with the Landing Lights swich (Nav Lights buttons have no effect).

For the lights issues, I supposed it's a problem with the external model right ? And since you edit only the VC, probably you won't be able to fix that. However your VC on another 747 might work properly :)
I'll try to provide more detailled feedback in the coming days.

Perhaps though Alex, you could have the Cabin as an opinion in the Installer like some payware planes have the opinion to install Higher Definition Textures.

Just thinking out loud.

EDITED

I don't understand this Steph..do you have a way to fix this? is this can be fix in the aircraft.cfg?  :-/  --->help

remember I'm just working in the cockpit only, the issue of lack of some of the lights  are in the external model which I'm not working ,I'm sure If it doesn't work in the default 747 exterior model the Nav light it will work in a model that has a split landing and taxi lights

Maybe try and use this effect: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FSX+Engine+Heat+Effects

Oh and the default FSX 747 engine coordinates don't work. ;)

Andy ,I will add it in a future release ,to make like a double type of installation will complicate the things
I will send you the second beta maybe even the final before its release ,I'm trying to solve few things Daube saids to then Upload it YOU will check it too then it will be release  ;)

I was expecting such an answer for the light problems. Indeed this seems to be linked to the external model, so the default 747 model won't be fixabe, but another model with correct light specification will work properly :)

Concerning the mixture, I made a mistake: it's not CTRL+F4, it's CTRL+SHIFT+F4, to set the mixture to 100%. It's no big deal really, I just need to make a new default flight in cold and dark but with engine mixture set to 100%. Then my jets will start normally. I don't think you need to do anything about this.

Hi Alejandro,

I'm currently installing your test package and I have one remark: in the readme of your latest archive, you mentionned that there are two files, and one of them is for reverse. However, in the archive, I have only one installation EXE file, no reverse file. Is it normal ?  :-?

Ok I made some additionnal testing tonight.
There were some things I wanted to check, mainly for the APU for example. I confirm it works correctly. I can switch the battery OFF, if the APU is ON and the APU GEN is ON too, then I still have electric power, which is cool :)

Also I did a test flight at night and with rainy weather, the wipers work as they should and the cockpit lights are absolutely beautiful.  8-)

I still haven't understood what the various HYD switches are made for, though  :-/

Oh yeah ,Did you know that this cockpit did not came with lightmap?? Now it has it  8-)

also take a look what used to be decoration this

make a crazy bank angles or drop the plane to the ground like if you were to crash it ,things like that

Also remember that it came with only two seats ,now like the real one has 4 ,Did you touch the rightside of the pilot seat? remember that the thing were you put your arm wont allow to see the radio??

there are many surprises hiding around there  8-)

Ok Alejandro, I will download again to make some additionnal tests :)

Funny that you mentionned it, the movable armrest is perhaps the very first feature that I discovered when I made the first test of your new cockpit some days ago  ;D These details are so cool ! Also, I noticed the warning light, very nice too, but I forgot that the original one didn't work, because I never ever used the default 747 before :/

I think I will post a topic on that French forum I mentionned before to ask them what these hydrolic buttons are supposed to do.
