Title: Flight Simulator Pro 2002

If I purchase a copy of the MSFS2002 Pro, would it install over the other addition and save all my information or would it wipe it out?

I would assume the worst, that it would destroy the existing installation.

The only difference between FS02 and FS02 Pro is a few additional planes.  It would be much easier to extract the additional planes to your existing installation.

So buy a cheap used copy and move the planes?  Is there better scenery?

Thanks,

Mike

As far as I know the scenery is identical.  The only difference I have ever heard of is additional aircraft.

Fs2002 will provide three new aircraft: the Cessna 208 Caravan on Amphibious Floats, the Boeing 747-400 and the Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP. It's not sure that the Concorde will be continued.

The Pro version will have additional aircraft, the Raytheon (Beech) Baron 58 piston twin and the Cessna Grand Caravan on wheels IFR training panels for the C172S, C182S, Mooney Bravo, and Baron 58.

So you would just need to extract these 3 aircraft, gauges and panels to your existing installation.

You could probably find pretty good freeware versions of these aircraft without too much trouble.  If you do make sure you get FS02 panels because FS04 panels won't be compatible (unless you're a panel designer).

If memory serves me correctly FS2002 Pro included a few more detailed cities than the Standard edition.

If you have enough HDD space you could install FS2002 Pro alongside FS2002 Standard. Simply rename your existing Flight Simulator 2002 directory to something different, for example Flight Simulator 2002 Standard. Then insert the Pro CDs & install in the usual way. I had 3 different versions of FS2002 & 4 of CFS2 running alongside each other on the same drive at one time.

Is there a list somewhere with the differences?  Debating whether or not I'm going to purchase it.

I purchased the FS2002 Pro addition finally and I was wondering, if I extract the planes from the PRO and copy them over into the standard will the AI planes copy over as well?

Thanks!

Mike
