Title: I'll be releasing the MD-83 update very soon
Post by alrot on Apr 26th, 2012 at 10:09pm

I want to add the texture rain effect with wipers and the GPWS although I'm not sure if these types of airplanes has this in real life

also to fix the pilot&copilot windows ,Ill be checking what to improve and add

there's the rain effect just like the upgraded 737 VC

Suggestions advises are welcome  :)

Alex

Looks pretty good. I haven't flown your MD-80 in a while (usually fly the Coolsky one when I do feel like flying the Mad Dogs which, considering I prefer flying regional, doesn't happen much).

One thing I do remember though was that on your model with certain viewpoints on the exterior you could very easily see the division between one sides textures and another. Would it be possible to correct that?

Looking forward, alrot.
When you're working on it, could you not take a look at the 2d panel?
I got the fsnd md83 with this 2d

But had an old fs9 md80 panel, and that suits me better

I do not see that ,maybe because my monitors are old (NO LCDs) are your setting are in widescreen

make a copy of you panel.cfg and at the end you wills see these

[Default View]
X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8192
SIZE_Y=3384

If the other panel its being working fine for you
Copy and paste these values view and replace mine for the one that are working fine

To be honest, I don't put too much effort in 2d panels BUT I rather to put something made by me than like some other modelers put the default 737-80 2d panel

I like More that 2d panel you just show me than mine ;D
If I were you I'd use that one, but I don't use 2d panels since FS2002

I see if I can do ,but I won't remap

also that cockpit its darker :-/ isn'¡t it?

also less engine sounds inside of the cockpit ?

:D :D :D I find the Original Voices of the MD-83 (*) just like in the video , are already instaled and working perfectly

(*)Boeing Uses Other Diferent voice

I rename the Sound Folder for not allow to delete the FSX 737-800 Upgraded VC 's voice ,It will has its own name, so in one hand you will have your normal 737-800 boeing's voice and at the other anopther folder having the MC Donnell Douglas voice 8-) 8-) 8-)

C'mon people I need feedback here , what else besides the GPWS and the winshields rain texture effects?

Ideas Ideas Please  :)

I'm not comepletely sure but couldn't you use a varient of the rain gauge to do something with snow/icing on the windows?

I am not sure but does it create the rain effect when it raining or when its percipitating?

Title: Re: I'll be releasing the MD-83 update very soon

Ok Thanks to bass Pic ,I got my ideas of how to distribute the 2d panel properly ,to improve it ,because It was so pity

before

now

how ever fix a 2d panel probably its the easiest thing to do using FSX Panel Studio software ..and it isn't the Updates I would want to do, Neither to remap the whole airplane again :o

Jetprop Yes there are indeed in the variable Ambient 3 diferent stages of weather ,I use Number 2 ,I can make the windshield snow very easy ,BUT I never seen a glass cover by ice ,Me and Stephane had this idea for the 737 cockpit but I can't remember why we decided not to apply it

the problem is how does and airplane windshields looks like when its ice

also this is not a gauge ,It comes from the simulator its self the weather its a condition that can be apply using a texture

Just like that let's try to find more pics so I can make the graphic 8-)

we can make the whole ice windshield based on one pic you know?

alrot, are you using FS Panel Studio for this and your 737 VC upgrade? Looking to do the same to the stock CRJ and King Air, mainly VC only work as I don't fly with the 2D anymore.

This is from a PMDG jetstream:
http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/rob/j41/img/2.jpg
Maybe it could help?

I was thinking:
You mainly see it on slower jets and props,I'm not sure if its possible but maybe you could make it so that the ice disapears when you go past say;260KIAS...

Again,I am not sure as I don't know much about designing...

see? this is what I mean ,to make the snow also dissapear for speed I would also have to do another XML part which is too complex

the windshield will show on Snow then It would have to go away at 250 ias but below that speed IF wipers are on clean the area ..too complex jetprop ,I don't think its going to go :(

Title: Re: I'll be releasing the MD-83 update very soon

It was just an idea.
Anyways,it doesn't usualy snow above 10000 feet and below that you usualy don't/shouldn't(?) fly above 250 KIAS...

I don't really know of any other "systems" that you could implement that isn't there already, but I'd would be nice to have some carpet or some other texture rather than the plain brownish color.

I don't like that color either ,but take a look at the video ,those airplanes come with that weird ugly pink :'(

Ok I already made the "Alrot Service" xml part to make something similar to this

http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1335544345.jpg

But I need to see some of those airport filling service to md 80s ,I was about to make them similar to the 777 but I'm sure a 777 double the size of a md83 ,so I assume they must be different cuz its a much smaller airplane

they will be in two switches in the VC service 1 and service 2 NOT as a gauge

ideas or photo links are welcome :)

I found something quick and relatively easy to do:
add a smokesystem.

The md80 causes quite alot of smoke from what I've seen in videos...
I made a quick one using the nimrod smoke but its at the engine inlet,not at the exhaust...

I am not sure if the Jetway works in this default MD-83 model (Ctrl J) ?

This can be added in the aircraft.conf -- but is a cool addition

++++++++++++++++++++++

The 777 & MD-80 dimentions and MD-80 passenger loading - you can see the MD-80 is quite a small jetliner

The problem I being having so far its that I want to add those little cars,I have made already the XML parts everything but ,I haven't found a photo or a ramdom 3ds according and properly to a small MD 80's (I don't know what they looks like)

I want it to add more things to the exterior ,If its going to be and update ,It can't be just GPWS ,and rain effect to the windshield and fix the pilot&copilot windows (BTW now they open /close but not while is in the air)

I don't know what to put in the pilot side :-/

this kind of feedback helps a lot , thanks

I just put the truck with the siccors and the box (I still don't know what the heck it does :P)

Now I will cut that back door ,to open for what ever that truck with the box does,..create a new door
The stairs ,do you know it already comes with the aircraft stairs? but I got to see in a photo how they are to make it

a couple cones ,those cones that FS modelers put in around warning cones :P

I'm so enjoying this    ;D

.About the smoke idea, on some FS aircraft the smoke is set to only come on at a certain throttle setting e.g. above 80%.

I think this would be a good feature to have on the MD-83 but I haven't found how to set the smoke to come on at a certain setting.

I'll keep looking though Alex. ;)

I've taken a look at that,I didn't find out how yet...
I have a strange feeling it has to do with afterburners...

EDIT:
Its not an AB...

EDIT2:
I know its NOT the effect itself.
I think I found something but I need another aircraft with the throotle smoke thingy...

That catering truck is on the back because the big and small cargo vehicles take al the space. (this is about the 777 pic). Why don't you make a big 737 project with the updated vc and vehicles around the a/c, you could use the posky a/c and make a big package with repaints. Just an idea ;)

yes ,I know what it does ,It has conditional to be in certaint throttler lever and altitude but
Which smoke??

        (A:GENERAL ENG1 THROTTLE LEVER POSITION,percent) 100 < (A:GENERAL ENG1 THROTTLE LEVER POSITION,percent) 50 > &&
        (A:INDICATED ALTITUDE,feet) 28000 < &&
        if{ (A:SMOKE ENABLE,bool) ! if{ (>K:SMOKE_ON) } }
        els{ (A:SMOKE ENABLE,bool) if{ (>K:SMOKE_OFF) } }

and from what position will that smoke will be dump ,
I think something very important is missing ,its the element ,the "A:SMOKE" has to be and attachable fx_* :-/

Unless we assign and specific position in cfg

[EFFECTS]
wake=fx_wake
water=fx_spray
dirt=fx_tchdrt
concrete=fx_sparks
touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1
smoke=1 fx_??
I made the red as and example
and hopefully by the engine position

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type = 1                                 //0=Piston, 1=Jet, 2=None, 3=Helo-Turbine, 4=Rocket, 5=Turboprop
Engine.0= -37.667, -9.400, 2.833
Engine.1= -37.667, 9.400, 2.833                   //

makes the whole deal 8dumping area? :P

The whole xml code is basically a copy of the smoke xml for the UKMIL Buccaneer.

The setting for the smoke is in the cfg:

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0= -2.70, -18.75,0.5, fx_nimrod_smoke
smoke.1= 2.70, -18.75,0.5, fx_nimrod_smoke

Now that make perfect sense ,those parameters are the position and the fx_ ,this is the element I was talking about ;D

hey alrot i just tried version 2 of this beautiful plane and i just wanted to say it is alot better then the original

but i see two problems
first that for the two textures that i used (AA and Allegiant) The engine nacelles are of a different color.
IE for the american its not a silver its a white color
and for the allegiant it goes to gray next to the fuselage.
That is a minor thing in which it doesnt really matter but oh well

The second problem is with the default sound. At idle i actually thought the compressor was disintegrating. :( thats not really good. But to me it doesnt matter models are more important then sound and textures

Im not saying this plane is bad im just giving some constructive critiscism
anyways have a nice day

Is what you are saying is that you can add objects (not effects) to an existing model. If so I really want to talk to you.

you can build more objects and in conditional circumstances the will un-hide or Hide depend of what you are trying to do

this is one of the examples

Alex

let me be more clear :P

I mean you can make extra objects like this Posky 777

the objects are there but hidden

unless you unhide them

0 > if{ 0 } els{ 1 }

I used to believe and not too long ago that this was a trick made in Gmax I was wrong this is just a Vissiblity option turn out more simple than I thought 8-)
