Title: 257mph!!

World record broken today. A standing start over 1 mile. Speed reached, 257 mph. Funny thing is, it cost a quarter of the price of a Vayron and does it in a quarter of the distance a Vayron needs  ;D

Well, if you have the money a Veyron you can buy... that car, not really.

You should buy a same kind of Ford first, then modify it yourself (illegal where I live, by the way) and hope it will not leave you afoot because you messed up something in the powering-up.

A non-mass produced car not really for everyone, that. Hope they'll talk about it in the next season if Top Gear, though. Those Brits really know how to make a car show. :)

Pah! You can get a Skoda Octavia that does 216mph! Who needs an impacticable 2 seater!

Bah...Humbug... :P

My 1963 Model 88 Land Rover went faster than both of those... :)

Of course it was in the back of a C130 Herc at the time... ;D

Well, there's a limit to how much power he can add to the car. The best thing he should do now is tweak the aerodynamics. It would be more cost effective than buying custom built driveshafts, brakes, suspension kits and wheels.
And expat, it's Veyron, not Vayron!  ;D ;D ;)

Wait, didn't the Veyron supersport do 267mph? So technically they have not broken the record yet.
But anyway just put a bus driver here in any car and I can bet you my house he'll get there before the fancy ford  :D. I'm sure Christian's engineers are already plotting the next car to annihilate the Ford gt. ;D

It's a standing start though.

One of the Veyron test runs (as seen on Top Gear) was made on an oval circuit in Ehra-Lessien. It has a straight which is nearly 6 miles long! So to go that fast in just one mile is pretty incredible!

Veyron is limited by fuel tank and tyre life... both are at zero if you try the top speed

ONLY the Veyron? :-?

And ALL the other comparable high performance cars? Are they powered by nuclear reactors and travel on an air cushions? :P
