Title: New Strange Issue
Post by jrbirdman on Jul 29th, 2011 at 10:00am
Okay I finally got some AI B-52s. That's the good news. The bad news is that I can see them on the tarmac in any view BUT cockpit or virtual cockpit views in another aircraft. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem? Kind regards, Jeremy

A link to the download would help. Then someone could check it out.
Also the version of FS that you are running.
And does this happen regardless of what aircraft you are sitting in?

Your Flightsim link goes to a package that does not include any planes.

It links back to SimV, but the link is dead (old system).

What B-52 are you using?

cheers,
Joe

Joe,

I think I found the model, at least the texture.??? and model.??? folder names match the B52 AI aircraft.cfg. It's for FS2000.  found a FS2002 version.

SimV file name-B52h2k.zip   B52h2k2.zip

Haven't had a chance to put it all together yet. Will do in the morning.

Jeremy,

Installed and I see the same thing, most parts of the B-52 are tranparent when viewed from the cockpit.

I'm sure it's a compatibility issue, the aircraft was designed for FS2000.

I don't know whether this can be fixed with texture/alpha edits or if the model is involved in the compatibility.

Thanks Dave. Were you going to give it a shot to try and fix it? Kind regards, Jeremy

Jeremy,

No. I'm not going to try to fix the aircraft.

You can get substitute FS2004 B-52's to use in the package here-http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=b-52&categoryId=31

The 2 KBT packages include ai aircraft.cfg and .air to correct the flight dynamics for ai use. These are detailed models so may have an impacts on fps.

There is also the Mike Stone B-52. One paint. It is less detailed so better fps. It does need need some work done on the flight dynamics for ai use.  http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=sb52h.zip&categoryId=&filename=Y

In any case just edit the 'b-52_ai' package's aircraft*.txt source file, substituting the appropriate aircraft 'titles' and recompile with TTools.

Would I have to make flight plans for these aircraft or is it just replace the .AIR and CFG files and go? Kind regards, Jeremy

You can use the flightplans from the b-52_ai.zip package.

Once you've installed the 'new' ai B-52, all you have to do is substitute the 'titles' in the aircraft*.txt TTools source file that you created from the B52_readme.txt file. After you've made the substitutions just recompile the file set with TTools.

If you're unsure of how to do this, it's covered in the TTools help file, Chapter 20.Aircraft....txt File

Checked out the KBT as ai and flies nicely. There is a little bit of wing bounce during taxi due to the 'wing flex' but otherwise performs well. Even deploys the drogue chute on landing..   :)

Someone can check it out. FS version you are running. This happens, no matter what kind of plane you sit?
