Title: Standard FS2002/Professional Edition FS2002 Question
Post by Northwest 102 on Dec 14th, 2010 at 12:05am
Hi,
I'm thinking about finding a used Professional Addition FS2002 set because that's all my 2003 bought computer can handle and I had a question.  Can I transfer the aircraft I have downloaded in my Standard FS2002 edition to the Professional Edition along with my Logbook and flights?

Yes to all.  The only differences in the standard and professional editions is that the professional edition has a few more aircraft and gauges necessary to support them.

Save your old installation so that you don't overwrite the logbook and flights.

Another thought - why bother installing the pro edition at all?

All you need to do is extract the aircraft, gauges and flights from the pro cd to your current installation.

Webb,

I thought about that but I'm noticing some glitches with my current software installed. I tried recently to setup my plane at KLAS to taxi out of ramp #9 and instead it sets me on the current active runway. Everything I tried it set me out there.  I also can't fly into KJFK without some other thing going wrong with the program so I avoid New York altogether.  Haha and flying to Key West there's a tower that goes all the way up into space!  It's messed up!

How strange.  In that case I would go with the first option.

Save your FS Standard installation to another location.
Uninstall FS Standard.
Install FS Pro.
Backup whatever files you intend to overwrite (logbook, flights).
Copy the logbook and custom flights into the new installation, no need to copy the Microsoft flights.

Thanks, that sounds like a plan.  I wonder if anyone here has an old copy that they would just want to give away?!  No harm in asking!  Thanks again for all your help.

Mike

I'm keeping mine because you never know when you may have to reinstall or repair.

You could find one at Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, thrift shop, etc. for about $3.
