Title: First simpit Part 14-Lear AP head
Post by rottydaddy on Aug 2nd, 2007 at 8:30pm
I made sure to rummage through the shelves and bins at the AeroMart in Oshkosh this year, but all I found that iI could afford was this- a Lear L2 AP control head, such as was installed in many Beeches, etc. back in the day.
My 'pit will have a modern AP panel, but I enjoy using this type of primitive AP, and it might even emulate the function of the old Sperry found in the DC-3 reasonably well... so I will mount it somewhere in there and hook it up.
All the knobs still move smoothly.

Fifteen bucks, BTW... a good price even if I only end up using it as a paperweight. ;D

COOL!  And yet another reason why I need to get to Oshkosh ;D  Spot any DC-3 parts/components?

Nope. But with 1/2 dozen operational Gooneys there, chances are good that any Douglas parts got snapped up the first day by their crews. ;D

Probably ;D I got a piece of skin from an old TWA DC-3 that's being rebuilt in Kansas City, but I want to get some sort of recognizable component like a yoke or a trim wheel or something.
