Part two
I f You want planes to downloaded you can download them from this Websites and others. 1: [url=www. Simviation.com]www. Simviation.com[/url] 2: www.Sim-outhouse.com/. 3: www.Simnetwork.com 4: www.netwings.org or http://web.archive.org/web/*/files.netwings.org/* Scroll through it. This webpage has most of Netwings Download files. If you want some the best German plane especially Bf109 this is of one of the best site I have found. http://myzone59.ath.cx/accueil.php3 Now for some the of the best Japanese plane available this a nice Web site. http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/hago/index.htm For Texure. I found some seasonal Texure for Europe in Simnetwork.com in the Scenery section that sre prertty cool. You can also download very good Italian planes from this Web site: Http://www.Isoliti4gatti.com/ if you want to edit your missions and campaings. Here is very good Utility that I highly recommend at Sim-outhouse.com . Its call Mks_cfs_utility.v2 . This ulity not allows you change you plane in your mission and camp folders but also help you create different hangers for different theaters of war for you quick missions builder. 1.http://www.combatfs.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-utilities Another Utility that I highly recommend is call CFO Weather . With this utility you can change the weather of every Mission as you fly thruough it . It also has a Auto pilot program that is very neat. It has many other features not avalable before. One is a no cheat mode that does not allow you to cheat out of the cockpit. Another thing I discover the other day is that if you have other installs representing different theater of war. You can use the MB of each new install thru this program. You can find this program at. http://www.caw15.com Another Utility I recommend is to download Co man utillity from: http://fly.to/mwgfx This utility will allow you to install aircraft into 18 different Hangars. Just a word of advice is to always place the original stock planes in every Hanger. Other wise the program will not work properly. Once you use all the Hangers. You could create your own Hangars and place them on the Aircraft folder whenever you want to use them. I recommend you use the program first before you try to create your own Hangars because it much easier to change Hangers thru it. All you need is name them acording to what Theater of War war you want use ti in. Its real easy. Another Wbsite that real cool its: www.absquad.net In this Website you get most of the Upgrade and Utilities you may need ti improve CFS2. The best thing about it is that they all come with self Instalators. So you do not have to worry where to install them. Another obtion in playing this game its that you can played in a Dynamic Mission and Campaing format if you want to. You can get the dynamic Campaing at : http://members.shaw.ca/dcgen/ Another thing I found is a great European Scenary at : www.mlk-airbase.wz.cz/msfs/scenery/texture_swap.html More Upgrades can bee found at : http://theghostfiles.org/ and at http://web.tiscali.it/jobim/cfs2/ More planes at 1.http://www.fsfreeware.com/dcd/ Some nice German planes can be found here: http://www.groundcrewdesign.com/ Skins for Aliies and Axis 1.http://mysite.verizon.net/resodflp/briansrepaintsforcfs2andcfs32/ Polish Web with Planes and Campaigns Here: http://robin.akcja.pl/cfs/index.html World war one: 1.http://www.domicilium.com/peveril/hangar/hangar.htm 2.http://www.aer.ip3.co.uk/cfs2_9.htm 3.http://www.aer.ip3.co.uk/scenery.htm Korean war: 1.http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2korea1a.htm New squadron with Down loads found at:http://www.vf15-flyingaces.com/vf15_fighting_aces_downloads.htm I would Like your feedback if any of my advice has help in your enjoyment of CFS2. Thank you James007 |

Title: Re: Interested In Finding new Things? Post by stiz on Jun 1st, 2005 at 8:53pm
Also Since the AER2 site changed it address you have only been able to get some of the planes...well you can actualy get all the scenery and stuff too just by changing the address.
The main page for AER2 is: http://www.aer.ip3.co.uk/mainpage.htm Now from here all the links (that i've tried) wont work because the links haven't been change to the new address. eg. if you click on scenery (http://www.aer.ip3.com/scenery.htm) you will get a page cannot be displayed message. If you change the .com to a .co.uk so the address reads http://www.aer.ip3.co.uk/scenery.htm you will get the scenery page. If you do this with all the pages where you get a "page cannot be displayed" message you will get the page that used to be there. All the downloads are still there too by the way :) ....well at least he didn't give a link....just mentioned it.. Stiz |

Title: Re: Interested In Finding new Things? Post by Mathias on Jun 2nd, 2005 at 6:44am
Simnetwork and fsfreeware are rewarded for hosting files without authorization.
fsfreeware has removed such files n the past on designer's request so the issue is basically a case of bad habits while simnetwork can be considered criminal. Fellow smmers have reported that their creations where swapped to the pay for membership area plus they never removed files on designer request. |

Would it not be a shame if most of it got lost because most member of this hobby would not aware of them. My only desire is to help others in their enjoyment of this great program in any way I can. Whats wrong with posting all this great work and talent by others to help the rest of us improve this game. I would like to know what in this post bother you. thank you James007 |

Bombadier your right on both count. Thank you for your correction. Looking forward for your new Website. It will be one more for our collection. The more people get involve the better.
My only request is that for you and your group to be dedicate the to World war two and not just to one Theater or another. I hope you represent all the sides that where involved in the war. That just makes it more fun and balance in my view. This only been a request James007 |

Well I hope I get a web site. Yes we will do all theatres possible. The Mediterranean will have something done for it as well. But there is a lot to do. 'Defence of Japan' or 'Cactus Air Force' would be good. But Europe is still where we are. The Night over Europe, Eastern Front and for the Mediterranean, 'Operation Strangle'. Hey, I am making searchlight scenery for Hamburg city now for the campaign. ;)
Happy flying, Bombardier |

Hi;
just wanted to offer a slight change to link #23 on your original list. The address for the main page is: http://www.virtualwings.org While I am very proud of my Doras, I also have a Fokker D.21 and several flavors of Hudsons for CFS2, and a series of repaints for James Grimes' Me 110C as well. Also have a string of new projects I'm working on that will eventually appear there as well..... Paul |

Bombadirs Guide on how to bacome a developer.
1.Bombardiers guide and tips on how to become a developer with CFS2. Here it is: Part One Welcome to the CFS2 development world! This post is very long so I've divided it into multiple posts A friend posted in the Simviation Forums that a new member in Netwings needs help. So I came here and you want to get CFS2 modding eh? Well, read on..... I'm a member of the Wires Wings and Canvas design group and another design group (which currently is making the Nachtjäger! campaign, PM me if you want details ) and I create scenery, missions, DPs, campaigns and miscellaneous stuff for CFS2. As for CFS2 modding and/or developing, look at all the stuff below....! Good parts to get started in: DPs, mission building and scenery designing. DPs are where the crash areas, guns, parts, weaponry etc are in aircraft. Other parts include adding an [EXTRA]. Extras are basicly a place to add a custom effect. In the extra you choose the location of it and which effect to show. You could maybe ask Corsair Freak about it, mark my words, after that VB Lancaster came he had done a lot of extras in his time Lol! Btw, they are mostly used in aircraft DPs for exhaust effects. A great DP editing program called DPEd can be found at http://www.simviation.com/cfs2utilities1.htm and can create and modify DPs and do a bit of experimenting and you'll see how you can get locations for [EXTRA]s. But remember, saving a DP in DPEd will erase any extras, so make a copy of the extra or extras from a DP somewhere else before saving the DP in DPEd. Btw, you don't have to have extras and you might be able to find an extra in the DPs of the ships Here is a tutorial for DP editing in Notepad: http://www.simviation.com/weapons.htm Mission building, well if you installed CFS2 with Typical or Complete installation you get a Mission Builder with it. But to start you off with learning to use it, Cody Coyote's Mission Building tutorial is at http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc2.htm. Scenery creating can make areas look really good! You can place 3d objects (macros), make runways, add navigational aids and much more. Two good programs for scenery creating are available. Airport can be downloaded at http://www.airportforwindows.com/downloads.html or http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_scenery1.htm. Flight Simulator Scenery Creator (FSSC) is great for CFS2 as well. You can get it at http://www.fssc.avsim.net/downloads.html or http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_scenery1.htm __________________ Aka Bombardier(101) CFS2 Addons by me & team members: Schleswig WW2 Base Scenery and fix: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery16.htm IJN Bomber Force Campaign: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2missions22.htm Nachtjager Campaign WORKING ON! to become a developer. Title: Re: New Links and Webs dedicated for CFS2? Post by james007 on Nov 30th, 2005 at 8:33am
Part Two
Slightly more complicated stuff: Campaigns, repaints, air files. A campaign is a bunch of missions and a .cmg file. The .cmg file contains code that strings the missions together into a campaign. To understand and write the code, you should get Cody Coyote's Campaign Tutorial. It's very good You can get it at http://www.simviation.com/cfs2utilities1.htm. Repaints are basicly modified versions of the textures of an aircraft. In a part of the Simviation Forums you can ask people about where to get tutorials for repainting aircraft. That part of the Simviation Forums is at http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/y...cgi?board=repnt. Air files have the suffix .air and contain the flight dynamics data, engine data, landing gear data, flaps data, avionics data and more. You can get a simple air file editor called AirEd at http://www.simviation.com/cfs2utilities1.htm. Quite complex stuff : 3D visual models, carrier decks, buildings & macros and FX files. 3D visual models take lots of work and in my opinion are h-a-r-d . But if you want to give it a shot some aircraft creating stuff can be found at http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_aircraft1.htm. G-Max models can be converted to CFS2 models with some utility, but I don't know where to get it . Btw, visual models are the shape of the plane that you see in the box that shows an interactive 3D veiw in the Select Aircraft box in CFS2. The paint job comes from files in the textures folder of the aircraft and the name of the files is dictated by the part in the model file that says what the bitmap filenames are and which part they're over yadda yadda yadda . A carrier deck is the part of the ship.cfg file that states where all the points are in the deck so CFS2 mission builder will enable you to put a take off waypoint on the ship with the ship.cfg file that has the carrier deck section. I don't know how to make these and no tutorials are on the internet . I think some people might use G-max or something to create models for destroyable CFS2 objects but for FS-type 3D objects (still can be used in CFS2 usually) you can use simpler things. DDay v1.0 can be used for CFS1 (and probably CFS2 because I think I've used something made with DDay 1 and it worked in CFS2 ) and it can be found at http://www.simviation.com/cfs1utilitites2.htm. There might be other utilities on the internet so just Google it! __________________ Aka Bombardier(101) CFS2 Addons by me & team members: Schleswig WW2 Base Scenery and fix: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery16.htm IJN Bomber Force Campaign: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2missions22.htm Nachtjager Campaign WORKING ON! |

Part Three
Effects (.FX) files eh? Well all I can do is change how long the effect goes before it dies but you might want to e-mail two of the most memorable CFS2 effects & mods designers. See www.jg2richthofen.bravehost.com for links, click on the "Jasta 11" portion, then downloads. There will be links to Jasta 11 German planes (ours) and links to the ones we shoot down. :( *waiting for snow to end* |

LOL. I have a tutorial over at NetWings if you need it..
I don't have CFS2 installed on the comp - again - otherwise I would give lessons on flight again like I did with Stiz. That was a grand hoot! Even _I_ nosed it in the first time I was trying to show Stiz a pancake landing. It was more of a BBQ landing! ;D Don't think I'll get Over Flanders Fields for CFS3. No room in the comp, plus other issues I care not to discuss. Hard decision to make - I like the person's work, but not the person who did it. >:( Know what I mean? Must be that way for some folks with Luft's stuff. *laughs* I don't make anything, (other than crappy UI music and tutorials), but I beta-test and I can be a real stinker when it comes to flight accuracy. |

Red_Baroness Thank you for you Web. Your contibution is more than well recieve here.
I do not care about how talent you think may poses. Believe it or not every body contribution is well accepted here. We can learn from each other no matter what talent you may poses. I love World War one stuff. World war was the beginning of of military aviation. This where the bravest pilots in history. Not only they had to worry about the enemy but also about being able to fly those wonderful flingy beautiful planes. World war planes where a adventure just to fly with them. They where very unstable and unrealible and at the beginning the of the war pilots did not carry parachutes. Can you imagine that. I hope you do not mind if post your web by numerical number on my list. This will be done with full credit for you. Its will make easier to find it there I think. Thank you again James007 |

My tips on how improve European sceneries.
Europe I installed McClelland UK sceneries. 1.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery3.htm I added Ian Elliot London upgrade and Mathias CFS1 airbases o my European Theater. 2.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery8.htm Then I added the European Coast line to my install. 3.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery11.htm I also install the BOB selfinstall scenery by Gary Bums. 4.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery13.htm I also went downloaded Simouthouse Europe Mesh at their backup site. 5. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/master_ftp/cfs2/cfs2-scenery/ You can either install Sim-outhouse or Netwings sceneries Mesh. They both are of very good quality. Its up to you. 6.http://www.netwings.org/library/CFS2%5FScenery/ part two:http://www.netwings.org/library/CFS2%5FScenery/index-2.html Last but not least I recommend you down load McClelland European Scenery for CFS2. Its a must if you really want to improve this program sceneries up to grade. With his sceneries you will not only have Cities and forest but also roads. 7.http://www.aer.ip3.co.uk/scenery.htm Website not working You must install this European Texure upgrade. Its the best one in my humble opinion. 8.http://www.mlk-airbase.wz.cz/msfs/scenery/texture_swap.html You get a cities upgrade right here in this Web. It will not make the cities look more real from 1000 feet and below but it make them look better from 1000Ft and above. I hate CFS2 clouds. Thanks to our members there are some new clouds available as well. You can get the one from Sim-outhouse call Stiz Clouds or LW clouds. Its you choice. I have install them both in different install that I have. You also download a new Sun. I forgot Stiz European Water. This is also a must. 9.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.ph...ploadName=stiz Europe has never looked so good in this program New You can also add Seasonal Texutures at Avsim. They are call cfs2hw.cfs2sp,cfs2su,scfswi,and cfs2fa.Look for them through the search engine at AvSim.Warning you will have to do it Manualy, but its real easy and lots of fun once you figure it out. 10http://www.avsim.com/ This are General upgrades. There are more specific area upgrades that are also available for you pleasure. Check out this Web dedicated for the improvement of European Scenery. 11.http://combatfs.homeip.net/cfs2coast/ I want to Thank this Website and the others like Netwings and Sim-ouhouse and all the Sceneries Developers and smaller Websites for Helping us enjoy this program with your talent. Without out your help this program would not have been the joy it is today. James007 PS my next post on this subject will be on the Pacific Theater. On to the Pacific Theater. Updated 1-2-9 |

This are my recomendation for upgrading the Pacific scenries in CFS2!
This are my tips on how to improve your Pacific sceneries. This is what I recommend to improve your Pacific Theater scenery. First you should get Stiz wonderful World Texures. 1.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery17.htm and also this package of Aifields for Asia here CFS2 Eastern Asia WWII Runways Scenery Full Consolidated Package. Then I would get the Pacific Coast upgrade. 2.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery11.htm Following that install CFS2 Tropical Texture. 3.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery12.htm You can also install Stiz Pacific Ocean Texure by Stiz. 4.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery17.htm You can also fix the Pacific Ocean with Stiz Pactex 1 to 5 folders. Remember the Pactex is just for fun. You can the different shore looks as you with Pactex folder 5. 5.http://www.demons7th.com/pactex.html The best Japan Scenery available is this one. 6.http://flightinfo.ens.ne.jp/tmurakam/terrain/ Or you can try this one if you like. 7.http://members.at.infoseek.co.jp/fsclubnet/ You can also install the Philippines sceneries I install. Its of very good quality. 8.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/master_ftp/cfs2/cfs2-scenery/ You should also install eawwii Asia 360 Airfields complete and Japan Mainland airfield package of 93 airfields. 9.http://www.netwings.org/library/CFS2%5FScenery/index-3.html You can improve your Burma scenery by installing Lowengrin Burma Dynamic Campaign and installing his Burma scenery. Beside its a pretty good Campaign. 10.http://members.shaw.ca/dcgen/dcg_burma.html You should also get Maskrider Scenery packages. They are one of my favorite. They include beautiful Pacific Theater Airfields. 11.http://www.netwings.org/library/Microsoft%5FCFS2/Maskrider%5FScenery/ I also recommend Stiz or LW Clouds at Sim-ouhouse. They are quite a improvement over the stock clouds. You can also get new clouds at: 12.http://fsw.simflight.com/ NEW You can also install Hawaii scenery from this Website. 13.http://fly.to/mwgfx Alaskan scenery. 14.http://rcaf440redbat.homestead.com/Scenery.html Go to its CFS2 scenery section and you will find there. A simple explanation I found on how to activate new sceneries. 14.http://flug.hp.infoseek.co.jp/enghow.htm Now you do not have any excuses. You can not tell your family you will not take them to Europe and visit London or Paris. You can"t say you can not effort to fly to the Far East. Its available with a Joystick and a good plane. You have over one thousand plane to chose from. All you have to do is wait until the war is over. Other wise you might be shot down. LoL Just enjoy it as much as possible. This is not the only good sceneries available for this Sim. This are my suggested sceneries only. I hope I have been helpful Now I"m enjoying this Sim more than ever and I hope you are as well. Now you can fly all over the World in what ever Theater you want with visual style. I enjoy flying as much over the European Theater as the Pacific Theater. I hope you do to. They both give me a special kind of joy. I hope I have been helpful James007 Updated 1-2-9 |

I have decide to make a post placing most of the links I have with CFS2 planes. I hope to you like this post. My only objective is to help fellow members to find most of the planes that have been develope throughout the years for this community by its dedicated developers.
My first recomdation if you to install Acman from this Website that will anable you to install most if not all this planes in different Hangars and in different CFS2 Installs. 1.http://fly.to/mwgfx# A WORD OF CAUTION When you use the Acman and create a new Hangar you need to include the stock planes. What you can do is to make a New Folder and place a copy of the Stock planes in it. When you make the new Hangar just copy the stock planes from this Folder. Remember also that you are limit to 95 to 100 planes per Hangar. You do get up to18 Hangar with this program. My secound recommendation is for you to install this utility from Sim-outhouse that will allow you to change planes and ships with in a Miision and Campaigns in secounds. It also will give the ability to change whole planes Hangars and convert them into Ai Bandits in Quick mission. This way you do not have activate plane after planes manualy. Panels and more Panels. Some times you will like to change your Planes panel. Now that more than possible. I will give a few sources where you can find some nice Panels.
To install a new panel all you need is to find your plane folder. Go inside the Panel folder and copy the new Panel and paste it by overiding the older panel. Vola! you have got a new Panel for your plane. Thats it! 1.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2panels1.htm 2.http://www.netwings.org/library/Microsoft%5FCFS2/Panels/ 3.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-panels&Category=panel 4.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-panels 5.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/master_ftp/cfs2/cfs2-panels/ Here is a great Website with some of nicest Japanese Panels I have ever seen. It also has two Bf109 Panels as well. 1.http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~LD-REP/RBP-DL-Page.htm Not Working any more! :'( CFS2 does not have very accurate World war two panels but it does have relative accurate panels. One thing that CFS2 panels have is that it allows the user on 2D view to inter react with the switches and nobs in your panel with your mouse Now thats cool! James007 |

You know guys, maybe you are not aware that CFS2 accepts the sounds from other Sims as it own. Knowing that and with the help a member from Sim-outhouse call Lawdog and other this sim has taken a new life when it come to improve realistic sounds.
Now you are able to incorporate sounds for most planes in the Allied and Axis Airforces. Form the French D520 to the Val. You can actualy hear what they may have sounded like when those pilots of yesterday flew them. Isn"t this Sim a lot fun. You can incorporate sounds from FS98 to FS2004. You can even barrow sounds from CFS3 into it. I use CFS3 sounds for my European Theater and CFS2 upgraded sounds for my Pacific Theater. You can do the same if you want. This is one of the many reasons that I like about this Sim. No its not the only good Sim in the Market but its sure one of the best. The ability not only to be able to upgrade it but also for its flexibility and adaptability to incorporate items and upgrades from other Sims. You can also add plane from FS98 and FS2004. Now thats is cool. Now to the first Link. You can get this upgrade right here. This will allow you to upgrade you Flak and gun sounds. 1.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc5.htm This is a Sim-Outhouse mirror Website Sounds: 2.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/master_ftp/cfs2/cfs2-sounds/ Sim-Outhhouse mirror Website for CFS3 sound. 3.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/master_ftp/cfs3/cfs3-sounds/ From Netwings: 4.http://www.netwings.org/library/CFS3%5FSounds/ From Netwings CFS2 sound section: 5.http://www.netwings.org/library/Microsoft%5FCFS2/Sounds/ From Sim-outhouse: 6.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-sounds Simviation: 7.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-sounds Also look in the Simviation Mics section for more sound upgrades. I hope you turn down your speakers when flying in this sim or your Family will think they under attack. Especialy remember to turn it down when Granpa is around or you might give him a Heart attack. He might have flash back and duck right in the middle of the living room and hit his head on a furniture. I'm sure your wife will not like that. She might have a few less than kind words for you. You might scare the dog as well. Just be careful. Turn them down please! James007 Update 7-28-8 |

I have found a way to take Screen Shots in CFS2. All you need is to install this program call FRAPS and basically you can strat taking pictures immediatley.
Here is how it works. 1.Down load FRAPS 2.I install it. It usually it install intself inside my Computer C. You can also pick the location where you it install. It will create its own Folder call FRAPS. 3. Go inside the Folder call FRAPS. CLICK on the Icon call FRAPS 99. Activate Start Fraps by Minimizing it or other option. 4. Start CFS2. 5.Start Free Flight or Quick combat. 6.Press F10 if you want a Screen Shot and or if you want a short 30 secound movie press F9. 7.Minimize CFS2. 8.Go back to FRAPS folder and click on either the Movie or Screen Shoots you have just made. Its real easy. The best thing about it that it will allow to take shots not only in CFS2 but also with most games you play in. Another thing is that there are no limitation to the number of Movies or Screen Shoots that you can make. You can also use it as Gun camera or simply make a short movie of a mission you really like. Its your choice. You are the Movie Director. Here is the Web where you can find FRAPS:http://www.fraps.com/ I hope enjoy this information James007 PS I want to thank Bear for helping me figuring out this program. Now I want to see your Screen Shots in this Forum For your best camera shots, Go to virtual cockpit and press the right braket key on your key board. This will give you a close up view of the cockpit gun sight. Press F9 and that will activate Fraps or press what ever else your camera program needs to be activated with and this will give you a great camera shot view. Do not be surprise to find out you need more practice on your shooting angles and on your aiming. Its simply a lot of fun! Enjoy James007 |

Have you ever wonder if there are more missions and campaings than the one offer in this program?
After you have flown the in game mission and campaigns there isn"t much more you can do with this program is there? WRONG! There are hundreds of missions and campaigns available on this Website and other Websites for our collective enjoyment. There is also one the best Mission Builder in the Sim world in this Sim for our enjoyment and ready to be use. Its easy to use once you get use how it fuctions. Now with the missions and campaigns available you can mimic many of the campiagns in World war two and other wars. You can fly and fight in for both sides in the Polish campaign. You can fly in the French campaing and in the Battle of Britain. You can particapate in the attack of Pearl Harbor or defend it. You fly for the INJ and fly in one the greatest military Blitz in history when the Japanese Empire expanded all over the Pacific in the early part of the Pacific war or participate in the Eastern Front. The Mediterenean Theater is also possible plus the the greateest Bombing campiagn in history, the Bombing of Wester Europe by the Eighth and the RAF. You can change sides and defend the Evil Nazi empire if you so desire. Its also cool to to testing your flying skills in secound most important Battle of World war two. Yes the Battle of Midway. If you like carrier Ops this is the Battle to fly in. Can you believe that World war two was decided in just four minutes in that Battle. Can you duplicate that feat. What about the Solomon and New Guinea and the vast central Pacific Theater campaigns. How can you forget the Invation of Normandy and the drive to Berlin. The Battle over Japan and the short campaign in Manchuria. How about Korea and Spanish Civil War and perhaps Vietnam in the Future. Oh yes World War One as well. You know guys. What I have realize the last few days is that most of us do like to fly night missions. Very few missions that I have down loaded included night missions. I my self have created very few night missions to fly with. The reason is I believe is that night missions are just to dark. Its almost impossible to fly with CFS2 in night missions due to it been darker than any other Sim and you are unable to see any land marks or any visual marking at all. In the real World there are very few night that are dark enough for one to experience total darkness like you do through CFS2 in night missions.
Well I found a way to fly night missions and still have experience of having to fly through your instruments in night missions. Its simple! Just download Stiz textures or other textures as the original do not reflect light that well and increase the brightness of your monitor and will see the diferrence. One should use this wisely. Other wise you will demean the experience of flying in the night. Remember! you do not become a real pilot untill you fly in night missions or in bad weather. If you make it to bright you will bee robbing your self from that wonderful experience. You need to know your cockpit instruments well as they are essential to be able to fly succefuly in the night. Good luck and good flying! James007 |

Haven you found your self wanting to make a new mission through the Mission Builder and changing your mind because it just takes to much time to get to the area you want to build your Mission with the hand pan. Lets say you want to build a mission in North Africa or in Buma. You open the Mission Builder and you pick a operation area like Europe. Well it opens in the middle of Europe and you have to scroll all the way to North Africa. Well could take you several minutes and its very tedius and time consuming and if pick Burma its even worst. You would have to scroll through the map all the way from East New Guinea.
You also have to remember all the airbases name of a area to be able to pick a specific airbase to be able to start where you want the mission to begin. Now I have a list of Operation Areas that might just help you with this matter. COPY THIS LIST Southern Solomon Islands, S12 39, E160 58, S22 49, E175 07 Hawaiian Islands, N22 55, W160 33, N18 14, W153 57 Wake Island, N20 25, E165 15, N18 32, E167 53 Midway Island, N28 38, W177 58, N27 46, W176 41 Northern Mariana Islands, N20 57, E139 08, N12 37, E150 35 Volcanic Islands, N28 01, E139 01, N24 29, E144 12 Marshall Islands, N14 17, E160 38, N5 33, E172 24 Gilbert Islands, N3 50, E169 45, S3 08, E178 54 Caroline Islands, N18 31, E146 50, S1 45, E152 35 Philippine Islands, N19 13, E112 41, N4 41, E132 25 Marcus Island, N24 39, E153 30, N23 56, E154 32 South Eastern New Guinea, S3 30, E143 13, S10 24, E152 27 European Theater, N47 26,W5 28,N53 59,E15 13 United Kingdom, N50 50, W8 33, N58 29, E4 22 North Africa, N29 30, E20 30, N32 50, E27 55 Mediterranean, N30 10, E13 10, N36 30, E14 30 Balkans, N39 28, E20 31, N38 01, E20 10 Indochina, N25 90, E90 15, N5 20, E105 20 Dutch East Indies, N5 20, E95 50, S10 20, E115 20 Norway, N59 55, E10 37, N67 16, E14 20 Central Europe, N50 10, E14 26, N44 28, E26 07 Finland, N62 12,E23 54,N58 54,E30 56 North Africa, N33 0,E13 0,N28 0,E32 0 Korean Theater, N40 37, E124 7, N35 13, E131 8 Spanish Civil War, N34 53,W7 48,N44 01,E4 39 Spanish Civil War-North, N43 00,W6 00,N43 40,W2 00 Libya,N30 00,E15 00,N32 30,E20 00 Dutch Harbor, N52 00,W168 00,N55 00,W165 00 Aluetian Islands, N50 29,E176 06,N57 09,W161 20 Japan Mainland Islands, N45 0,E130 0,N30 0,E145 0 Nomonhan, N46 27, E115 21, N49 26, E120 43 Go to my Computer/Program files/Microsoft games/Combat flight Simulator/INFO folder Scroll down to a file call: opareas Open it wth the notepad. HOW TO INSTALL THIRD PARTY PLANES INTO CFS2
This post will be dedicated for those who are having problems in installing AC into CFS2. Installing AC into CFS2 is real easy once you have learn what to look for and how this program works. The first thing I recommend is for you to get familiar with the inner working of CFS2. Go to: Mycomputer C/Local Disk(C:)/Program files/Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2 Get familiar the all the its folder the names of the files before you start to down loading anything. Now find the Website you want to down load your new plane from. You can start by browsing through this post. It has many Website dedicated to the improvement of CFS2 in it. 1.http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=cfs2;action=display;num=1117604819 Lets start with the CFS2 section dedicated to AC in this Wedsite. 2.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft1.htm There are many more Websites with AC for CFS2 as well. The next thing for you to do is to down load the new third party plane into a New folder created by you. You place this folder any where you like. You can call it New AC if you want or give it any name you like. Now you go to your Web site that you want to down load the new AC. Down load it to this new AC folder or directly load it to the AC folder. The AC forlder is call AIRCRAFT. You need to get familiair with the content of the AC and what is needed to make it work properly. Every AC has this basic folders inside their respective AC folder. I picked the A6M2_ZERO as example: 1.MODEL: the configuration of the AC. 2.PANEL:The panel and its working 3.SOUND: Sound of the AC. 4.TEXTURE: The texture of the AC. they also have this basic files. aircraft CFG: It give the AC its Identification and name within the CFS2 program. It also has some other basic information. a6m2_zero DP: Damage properties and weapons points and load. a6m2_zero AIR file: its Arial abilities. In other words how this plane should fly according to its developers. a6m2_zero CDP : This files keeps a record of the AC previous files. Now this is replicated every time you fly with this AC. You can and should deleted it every time you add somthings new like weapons to the AC. Do not worry it will replicate itself evey time Automaticaly. If you do not deleted it the new weapons or other install may not show up. Now down load your new AC in to the folder you chose by routing it through Save and not Open option. Go inside the new AC folder and look for the AC folder and see if it has the all of its proper folder and files. Some times you may find additional folder within the AC folders and some times the AC is insde the folder with the same name. You always need to go inside the AC folder to make sure if the AC is inside of it. If it has additional folders you need to copy and paste them to their respective folder to enable the AC to show and fly properly in this program. After you have done that you need to go inside the new install Aircraft folder and see if in has additional folder you need to install. Sometimes within the Aircraft folder there are additional folder that need to be install. Like gauges and weapons. If its gauges all you need to is to copy the content inside the Gauge folder and copy them into the main gauges folder. You need to make the to do same steps with any aditional folder you might find inside the Aircraft folder. If you need to add new weapons you need to go inside the SCENEDB folder and look for a folder call weapons. Go inside of it and you will find two folders call scenery and texure. Copy and the new weapons in the appropiate folder. This way your new addon plane will show up in the game. Most planes doe are install ready. In other words all you need is to install them and they will show up in the Sim. make sure they have the appropiate content inside of them. The most common missing element is no sound inside the Sound folder. Thats easy to fix. All you is get a new sound from another plane of the same model with sounds and copy and paste inside the new planes sound folder. Now you should be able to fly the legandary Wildcats and Hellcats plus the Avengers and SBD and sink enemy carriers like out for fathers had to do in World war two. If you take them to the next level you feel the thrill of shooting down a Zeros or been shot down by one. You will feel the danger of Naval arial combat during that Era. Believe it or not the Pacific Arial war was a lot tougher than what we have been told. I also recommend you scroll through this post. It may help improve your enjoyment of this Sim: 1.http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=cfs2;action=display;num=1117604819 How to add planes into CFS2 by Jaxons: 2.http://www.michael-reimer.com/CFS2/CFS2_Tips.html By Hagar: BGL files go in CFS2\SCENEDB\weapons\scenery BMP textures in CFS2\SCENEDB\weapons\texture & DP files in CFS2\OBJECTS_DP With this c I also recommend you learn how to Build missions and campaings. Thats where this Sim really rocks. Look for Coyotes Mission Builder Ttorial: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=cc_handbook.zip You may ask:what is the MODEL_DBG file that is inside the stock AC folder. I would not worry about it. The addon planes do not need this folder to be able to work properly in this Sim. I recommend you install only three to four AC at any one time for them to show up in the Sim. Thre is also a limitation of one 90 to 100 planes per Hangar. Hangar it simply means inside the AIRCRAFT folder. There is a utility that will enable you to install a lot more planes per install. With this program you can install more than one thousand planes. Its call AC man: http://fly.to/mwgfx You need to look for the CFS2 AC utlilities section. Its real easy to install and use. this utility will make it possible for the user to have as many as eighteen Hangars within one install. You can use it in different installs. This will allow you to have unlimited amount of AC to fly with in this program. How to install new texure so will show up to the Mission Builder. That real easy. All you need to do is to install the new texutes in to the AC Texure folder. If you want to use it as new texure in a new plane like for example you want the stock plane with the new texute to show up as a addon in the Mission Builder. All you need to do is to create a new AC folder. Here I will explain it in a step by step process. 1.Go inside ADDON folder 2.Create a new folder 3.Give the new folder the AC name plus the new texure name. 4.Copy and paste the content of the original plane inside the AIRCRAFT you wanted to chage the texure from into the new AC folder foder inside the ADDDON folder. 5.Go and copy and paste the new TEXURE call kamuri into the texure folder. 6.Go inside the new AC folder and look for the file call CFG and open it up with your notepad. [fltsim.0] title=A6M2 Zero sim=A6M2_Zero model= panel= sound= texture= KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check Change the title name form A6M2 Zero to A6M2 Zero Kamuri. [fltsim.0] title=A6M2 Zero kamuri sim=A6M2_Zero model= panel= sound= texture= KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check Now you have a new AC that will show up as a new AC with a different TEXURE. 7. Now cut the new plane and paste it inside the AIRCRAFT Folder. Thats it! I hope I have been helpful If you have any question do not hesitate and come back to this forum and I and other members will more than thrill to help you out. James007 Updated 5/5/8 |

HOW TO INSTALL NEW WOAPONS INTO AC IN CFS2
First of all download the new weapon pack and read the instructions carefuly. Usualy you need to go to My Computer/Local Disk/Program File/Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2/SCENEDB/weapons/there you are going to find two Folders. One call scenery and another one call texture. Paste the BGL and BMP in there appropiate folders scenery and texure folders. Inside the scenery Folder there is a file call filelist Dat file. Delete it. Go back to the Airplane or group of planes you want to add with the New weapons. We are going to use the the A6M2 zero as a example. Open My Computer/Local Disk/Program/Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2/AIRCRAFT/ A6M2_ZERO. Open the A6M2 Folder and there should bee Six Folders and four files call a6m2_zero Airfile,a6m2_zero DP file, aircraft CFG file,a6m2_zero CDP file. Delete the CDP file and that should do it. Do not worry about deleting this files. They will be replicated by the CFS2 program. This files only record the setting of their respective Folder to keep the program stable. Once you delete them they will be replace with new ones with the new recorded information. Now you can go on a Happy Bombing Mission! ;) James007 |

Members of this greater community have found a way to actvate the GSL in CFS2.
Before starting backup your original cfs2.gsl file and put it in a safe place. Global Scenery Layer Editor Keyboard Commands Activate GSL edit mode = Ctrl + Alt + Shift + G Save GSL = Ctrl + Alt + S Save layout file. = Ctrl + E Load a layout file = Ctrl + L Notes: 1: By default once you save the GSL it’s automatically added to the default CFS2.gsl file. 2: Once added to the gsl the scenery can only be removed by removing the .gob file. You can save a master copy of your work in .mis or .lay format. The benefits of the editor are in that it allows the user to customize CFS2 to suite themselves. There is info in the CFS2 help file on how to change GSL layers.. Users can have multiple gsl layers (for example one modern era one set in WWII).. Cheers Lindsay I want to thank Linsay James007 |

New German and British Radio chatter now available. Its easy to install and use. There is nothing like flying for the RAF in the Battle of Britain and not having to hear American voices instead of British voices. The same thing goes for the the German radio chatter. It just takes away from the immersion
factor. http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc13.htm This is a great break through. Enjoy James007 |

How to add airbases to you airbase list.
Here is How! You need to go to My Computer/Local Disk C/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2/INFO Folder/Look for a file call airbases. Open it with notepad by clicking your mouse on the left side. A window will show up with the word open with. Two options will show up. Select the option thats says "Select a program from the List". Click the one that says notepad. A list of Airbases will showup. This example is from my three last airbases listed on my TEST CSF2 copy airbase file. The last two entries are two Italian entries that I want to add to my list of airbses. [runway.597] id=9397 name=PNG Gurney Strip taxi base_lat=S10 18.44 base_lon=E150 20.08 base_alt=110 heading=210 allegiance=0 units_across=0 takeoff_start_pos=0,0 takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200 landing_start_pos=5000,350 landing_touchdown_pos=500,0 landing_stop_pos=-250,0 [runway.598] id=9398 name=QLD Horne Is base_lat=S10* 35.03' base_lon=E142* 17.98' base_alt=1.00 heading=80 allegiance=0 units_across=2 takeoff_start_pos=-400,0 takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200 landing_start_pos=5000,350 landing_touchdown_pos=500,0 landing_stop_pos=-50,0 [runway.599] id=9399 name=NT Batchelor 26 base_lat=S13 02.46 base_lon=E131 01.42 base_alt=555 heading=264 allegiance=0 units_across=2 takeoff_start_pos=-400,0 takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200 landing_start_pos=5000,350 landing_touchdown_pos=500,0 landing_stop_pos=-250,0 ITALY South [runway.xx] id=8168 name=IT Foggia base_lat=N41 26.20 base_lon=E15 34.46 base_alt=241 heading=160 allegiance=0 units_across=2 takeoff_start_pos=100,0 takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200 landing_start_pos=5000,350 landing_touchdown_pos=550,0 landing_stop_pos=-250,0 ; NDB 722 [runway.xx] id=8169 name=IT Gioia Del Colle base_lat=N40 45.75 base_lon=E16 55.59 base_alt=1090 heading=170 allegiance=0 units_across=2 takeoff_start_pos=100,0 takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200 landing_start_pos=5000,350 landing_touchdown_pos=550,0 landing_stop_pos=-250,0 ; NDB 718 What you need to do is to add them by following the sequence numbers in the runway and the id numbers from the previous airbase entry in your list. New Fraps program available at http://www.fraps.com/. The new version is the 2.9.1 version. It will allow you to easily take Screen Shots and 30sec movie. Perfect for a gun camera.
Open Fraps with a double click on the Fraps Icon on your Window display screen. Do not minimize it since its not necesary. click on the word General. Click on run Fraps when Window starts. Click on the word FPS and make a choice on what keyboard you want to chose to activate it when the Sim is beign use. Click on the Movies and chose what keydial you want the chose to activate the Movie camera. I recommend to diactivate the Sound recorder since this will eatup much of you resources. Do the the same for Screenshots and chose a Keydial to activate it. Now start CFS2 and START TO RECORD. Some times you will have to start CFS2 several times before it will activate it and start to record. The best way to find out if its recording is by clicking on the Word FPS and enabeling the display that says Overlay Corner. Once you start the Sim you will see a display that will give the frame rate on you Sim while you fly. If it slows down the frame rate while you are trying to record your plane in flight then it should be working. PS I hope this will help you! How can I see what I have recorded? Go to my Computer and click on it with your mouse. Click on Local Disk A Folder call Fraps should be located there. Click on it All your movies and Screen Shots should be there! |

In my experience thee are several ways of increasing you frame rate. The best way is to play around with your settings. You can also turn down the internal sounds of the program plus the sound setting of your PC sound program.
You can play around with the scenery Setting from 1 to 6 and you also change the setting of the video resolution within the program in combination with the your PC video cards resolution. They work in combination. You can also go to your Video card setting by right pressing your mouse. You are going to get a column of choices.Scroll down down to properties. A window will show up. Now press where it says apperiance. Now you will the option of XP or classic view. Choose Classic. Scroll down where it says Font size. You will see the Word Normal. Scroll down and change it to Extra Large Font. This simple changes has made my program more FR friendly and a little smother. If this those changes do not work for you can always change it back! Try it out and see they work for you! This post will be dedicated for those of us who are interesting in multiple installs to be able to fly in different Theater and in different Era through individuals CFS2 installs.
If have ever wonder and wanted to fly in the Pacific Theater and ETO.Med,Estern Front, CBI,Korea, WWI through independed CFS2 install"s you should read this post. Having one install to represent all of Theaters and Era of flight in one install could potentialy create problems for you because of all the clutter in that one Install. Its better to have different install for different Theater of war or Era of flight you are interested in flying in! Option one First of all Install CFS2. Now look for the CFS2 Folder install inside your PC like this: 1.Go to My Computer 2.Local Disc C 3.Program Files 4.Microsoft games 3.Combat flight Simulator 2 Now change the name of the folder that contain the name Combat flight Simulator 2 to ETO as a example. Now you can Install CFS2 again and repeat this process again until you have all the Install you need or want. This way you will have multiple installs of CFS2 for you convinience to fly in. Option two You follow the same sequence as before. First of all Install CFS2. Now instead of using CFS2 CD"s for a new install you just make a new folder with the Name of the Era or Theater you want to fly in and copy the content from the original CFS2 install and paste it into the new Folder name after the new Theater you want to fly in. Now you can add all the sceneries and AC plus effect appropiate to that Era or Theater as you like. Its realy that easy! PS a word of warnning. Make a secound copy if possible of all your new Thearter CFS2 installs just in case something goes wrong you can always fix it with your back up! I also recommend for you to install Acman from this Website that will anable you to install most if not all this planes in different Hangars and in different CFS2 Installs. My secound recommendation is for you to install this utility from Sim-outhouse that will allow you to change planes and ships with in a Mission and Campaigns in secounds. It also will give the ability to change whole planes Hangars and convert them into Ai Bandits in Quick mission. This way you do not have activate plane after planes manualy. Its call mk_cfs2_uti2v.zip 2.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cf s2.... |

This Sim is the most flexible and adaptable Sim of them all. Its the most customizing Sim in the market period. There is so many mods you can add to it and changes you can do to it that can simply leave you mesmorize.
With the capability of having different Theaters you actualy make your self a totaly different Sim that was not intended by the designer of this Sim. For example now you can make yourself two theater of you so desire and perhaps fly in the Pacific Theater in one and after that fly in a other install on the Eastern Front in a Mig 3 vs Me106G Dogfight if you so desire. WoW! There is another option to get rid of the stock AC if you so desire. I bet you do not want to fly or see a Corsair or a Zero Ac option in your early war ETO install. FIRST METHOD Go into Quickcom......open up and replace planes. .....i..e..Get rid of Japneses planes and replace with German and US planes are replaced with British planes.. Then go to Info File and delete the planes that were replaced. Then open ' mdlnames' and delete planes there.... Most planes have an 'Alias' Sound file...set up a new file in Aircraft with only engines sounds.. You will need to make a folder with all the stocks sound since they are use by many addon planes. The first method is the best way of doing it. But Iäm recommending is not as sofisticated but it also works and is a simpler way of doing it. Just go inside your Microsoftgame/Combat flight Simulator 2/Aircraft folder and look inside each stock AC Folder/ look for the Panel and Texure Folder and delete its content or delete the folders themself.thats It! There is only one draw back to this method. CFS2 will still recognize this folder as working AC. They will not show up any more on your display option as flying AC but they will ocuppy a AC slot on your Hanger. There for you will still be able to have between 72 to 82 addon planes in your Hanger but with Bretnuts method you will be able to have between 90 to 95 addon AC in each Hangar in your install Theater. The difference is that the secound method is simplier. But if you do not want to see the the stock AC try the method that works best for you. They are both good method of getting rid of those beautiful stocks AC where they do not belong. I hope I have been helpful. The first method given by a member of SOH. I want to thank him! James007 |

It is the job of the citizens to form their own opinions, not to rely on Big Brother to provide opinions for them. That's what the bad guys did, indoctrinate their people into thinking their gov't could do no wrong. Failure to abide by journalistic principles has resulted in the US falling into the same trap as Nazi Germany. Because the media has failed to report objectively, we started a war based on lies. These are great recordings to learn from. But they shouldn't be used to justify every war or every government |

How to install and use planes in CFS2!
The best utility that know of that will make any plane in your hangar a opponent is this one CFS2 Imroved Quick Combat file.Located here http://www.simviation.com/cfs2utilities1.htm and here http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.ph...ype=cfs2-other utlity only works for quick cambat mode. HOW TO INSTALL THIRD PARTY PLANES INTO CFS2 This post will be dedicated for those who are having problems in installing AC into CFS2. Installing AC into CFS2 is real easy once you have learn what to look for and how this program works. The first thing I recommend is for you to get familiar with the inner working of CFS2. Go to: Mycomputer C/Local Disk(C/Program files/Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2 Get familiar the all the its folder the names of the files before you start to down loading anything. Now find the Website you want to down load your new plane from. You can start by browsing through this post. It has many Website dedicated to the improvement of CFS2 in it. 1.http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1117604819/all read it from page one to the last page. It not only has the address of diferent Websites dedicated to this Sim but it alos has lots information on other subjects as well. I if you have a question you can always come back to this forum and we will help you along. Lets start with the CFS2 section dedicated to AC in this Wedsite. 2.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.ph...downloads_cfs2 3.http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft1.htm There are many more Websites with AC for CFS2 as well. Now you should be able to fly the legandary Wildcats and Hellcats plus the Avengers and SBD and sink enemy carriers like our for fathers had to do in World war two. If you take them to the next level you feel the thrill of shooting down a Zeros or been shot down by one. You will feel the danger of Naval arial combat during that Era. Believe it or not the Pacific Arial war was a lot tougher than what we have been told. I also recommend you scroll through this post. It may help improve your enjoyment of this Sim: 1.http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1117604819 How to add planes into CFS2 by Jaxons: 2.http://www.michael-reimer.com/CFS2/CFS2_Tips.html By Hagar: BGL files go in CFS2\SCENEDB\weapons\scenery BMP textures in CFS2\SCENEDB\weapons\texture & DP files in CFS2\OBJECTS_DP With this c I also recommend you learn how to Build missions and campaings. Thats where this Sim really rocks. Look for Coyotes Mission Builder Ttorial: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=cfs&file=cc_handbook.zip and here is his latest upgraded tutorial Hand book on how to Build mission through CFS2 http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=down.. . ad... You may ask:what is the MODEL_DBG file that is inside the stock AC folder. Its call mk_cfs2_uti2v.zip 2. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&FileType=cf s2... |

This are tips and know how on how to improve your experience flying through this Sim. All found here in this Website by Airwarfare.
http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/CFS2/hints.htm Combat Flight Simulator 2 Pacific Theatre IMPORTANT Some of the tips on this page involve making changes to files on your computer. If you are not comfortable doing this do not attempt it. No responsibility can be accepted for damage or loss caused by following these tips. The only guarantee I can give is that they work on my system. Optimising your PC Running the latest flight simulations can often require a top of the line computer to achieve acceptable frame rates. For many users, this is often not practical, or affordable! So we need to find ways to maximise the effectiveness and performance of the system you currently own. This series of articles will show you how this can be done to get the most out of your existing system setup. Here are some handy websites that will help you find what you need: Drivers HQ - http://www.drivershq.com - This nifty little site will help you find the drivers and manufacturers of your components you need! Direct X - http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ - Microsoft's Direct X is usually required to run the majority of new games currently being released. Download the latest version. Toms Hardware Guide - http://www.tomshardware.com - A great site to find all you need to know about computer hardware in all shapes and sizes. For setting up sound and graphics in CFS2 I highly recommend visiting 3D Spotlight.com and reading the CFS2 Tweak Guide Changing startup plane in CFS multiplayer In CFS 2 the default plane is the A6M2 Zero, to change this to another follow these instructions carefully. Open the file multiplayer.mis file in notepad. Scroll down to [Unit_Type.0] and change plane name to 'plane name' The plane name must be entered exactly as it appears in its Aircraft.cfg file or the game will not run. Seeing other players aircraft in multiplayer There are many models of aircraft and repaints, to see them in your game you need to either have the same aircraft/repaint or edit your combatfs.cfg file. Open combatfs.cfg in notepad, locate the line [Multiplayer] just down from this edit the following. ALLOW_PLANE_MODEL_SEND=1 ALLOW_PLANE_MODEL_RECEIVE=1 ALLOW_TEXTURE_SEND=1 ALLOW_TEXTURE_RECEIVE=1 MAX_SEGMENTS_PER_SEC=1 Bomb Sights To switch on the bomb sight add the following to your combatfs.cfg file after the [PREFS] section. [CHEATS] bomb_trainer=1 When in Multiplayer - if you hit SHIFT + ] a bomb view window will be created with crosshairs. To close the same window - hit ] Hitting the + or - will zoom and unzoom. Use your mouse to drag the new window larger or smaller. CFS I Aircraft section has a JU88G7 which uses this modification to good effect. How to make it snow! You can make up your weather in Free Flight and have it rain .. all you have to do to make it snow is go to the cloud.0 line and change the fourth number from the right from 1 to 2 (weather) visibility.0=24140.16,0.00,2438.40 vis_layers_num=1 cloud.0=9,915.01,1524.00,99.67,2,0,0,1,0.00,3,0 cloud_layers_num=1 Thanks to Beowulf Optimising game Settings Firstly make sure that the 'Enable autorudder' box is unchecked. This will improve your turning ability. At the top right is a simple slider, if you don't want to get involved with things like Bi-linear or Tri-linear filtering, anti aliasing or mip maps use this. Start at the lowest Image quality (1) and work your way up to the highest (6) checking FPS in Free Flight mode. Clicking the ? symbol in the top left corner will give you all the help you need to set up graphics Image complexity and sound options depend on your computers capabilities. Start off by selecting the minimum possible settings and then gradually increase them. You FPS or Frames per Second can be seen in Free Flight mode by pressing SHIFT+Z twice. The higher the FPS the better, an optimum would be better than 30 FPS less than 24 would lead to flickering. Click to view To improve joystick response select your joystick from the Control Device window and then select Ailerons Axis from the Axis window. The Null Zone is the amount of play your joystick has before any response to movement. Decrease this by dragging the slider bar all the way to the left. Sensitivity sets the joysticks response to small movements. Increase sensitivity by dragging the slider bar all the way to the right. Now do the same to Elevator and Rudder Axes. Experiment with these settings to find what is ideal for you. You can always return to default settings if you mess up. GAME PRESETS You can make CFS start up in multiplayer with your preferred settings The following variables can be changed by editing CFS2.cfg in Notepad. Before editing ensure that CFS is NOT running. Scroll down the file until you see the [MULTIPLAYER section. These variables may or may not appear in the file, if they do not simply add them under the [MULTIPLAYER tag. Bomb Runs Basic requirements for Bomb Runs The main requirement is that you obtain the airfiles for making your AI (computer controlled) aircraft flyable. CFS 2 Air files download here Ideally all players should be able to see the correct aircraft in a game, to ensure this stick to the stock and game AI aircraft. However an excellent range of bombers for CFS 1&2 can be found at RAF662.com. and some excellent repaints of stock aircraft can be found at AluminumCloud In addition to these basics extra game immersion can be provided by using an application called Multiswap. This enables effects such as flak and the addition of AI aircraft and scenery to the game. You can download Multiswap for CFS1 and CFS2 these are two different programs, if you have difficulty running Multiswap you will need to download the Visual Basic runtime files from here. Someone should be up to speed with navigation, the RAF662 site has ADF utilities which will aid navigation in CFS 1. For CFS 2 here is a GPS gauge. Extras, missions, Alpha Bombers etc can be found at RAF_MShines site. See CFS 1 essential Files and CFS 2 essential files page for useful add ons for Multi Player Bomb Runs. Lae-Salamaua Bomb Run This is the one most commonly played bomb run scenario's in CFS2: Start point: Lae Escort: Bomber and Escorts , aircraft to defend bomber and destroy attack aircraft. Attack: To intercept and destroy Bomber before it can Return and land at Lae. First stage: Escorts: 2+F4U1A-Corsairs or 2+F6F3-Hellcats Bomber: 1 B-24 or B-25 bomber, with AI Airfiles ONLY Escorts and Bomber Land Below at Lae, Bomber lands first. Attack: 2+A6M2's A6M5's Zeros or N1K2J-Georges How Ever in all Hells Angels Bomb Runs only 2 Georges are allowed the rest MUST Be Zeros. Most Bomb Runs in CFS2 have followed suit in that rule. Attack Flys 160 degrees approx 20 Miles to Salamaua and Land there.. Second stage: Once both attack and escort squadrons have landed the Escorts and Bomber take off and fly to Salamaua. Once escort is at 30,000 Meters from Salamaua. attack leader should give orders to all Zero Pilots to scramble and intercept bomber and escort. Georges May launch at 25,000 Meters. Object of the Game: For Escorts and Bomber to win they must Take off and Fly to Salamaua and Fly over the Airfield NO HIGHER than 10,000 Ft Bomber Calls Bombs away then must turn and make it back and successfully land at Lae. For Attack to win they Must Destroy the Bomber before it can make it home. Keep in Mind Only the Bomber has to make it home to win. So the Bomber is the Primary Target. But Watch out for her Escorts :) Rules are as Follows: 1.NO Shooting until ALL have Landed. 2. If you Die in Combat, YOU'RE DEAD and MUST Return to Ready Room Immediately! NO SPECTATORS! It simply gets too confusing. 3. NO KAMIKAZE'S on the Bomber! None if it possibly can be Avoided. These Runs Are best if run at either 95% or 100% 95% is everything on only Med Flight Model. Hard Flight Model is a little to difficult for Most Rookies to land! So unless we know everyone can land 95% is what we usually run at mainly to save time and avoid rookie crash Landings :) To Make this run More Realistic, Turn off all aids, Radar, Pointer. Peleliu-Korror Bomb Run This is another one of the most commonly played bomb run scenario's in CFS2: Start point: Peleliu. Escort: Bomber and Escorts , aircraft to defend bomber and destroy attack aircraft. Attack: To intercept and destroy Bomber before it can Return and land at Peleliu. First stage: Escorts: 2+F4U1A-Corsairs or 2+F6F3-Hellcats Bomber: 1 B-24 or B-25 bomber, with AI Airfiles ONLY Escorts and Bomber Land Below at Peleliu, Bomber lands first. Attack: 2+A6M2's A6M5's Zeros or N1K2J-Georges How Ever in all Hells Angels Bomb Runs only 2 Georges are allowed the rest MUST Be Zeros. Most Bomb Runs in CFS2 have followed suit in that rule. Attack Flys 035 degrees approx 25 Miles to Korror or any of the 3 Airfields there on the surrounding Islands Korror is the center one, and Land there.. Second stage: Once both attack and escort squadrons have landed the Escorts and Bomber take off and fly to Korror. Once escort is at 30,000 Meters from Korror. attack leader should give orders to all Zero Pilots to scramble and intercept bomber and escorts. Georges launch at 25,000 Meters. Object of the Game: For Escorts and Bomber to win they must Take off and Fly to Korror and Fly over the Airfield NO HIGHER than 10,000 Ft Bomber Calls Bombs away then must turn and make it back and successfully land at Peleliu. Attack Flys 160 degrees approx 20 Miles to Salamaua Second stage: Once both attack and escort squadrons have landed the Escorts and Bomber take off and fly on a course heading of 255 degrees approx 40 miles to Tsili Tsili. Attack launches at the same time and fly's an Intercept course heading of 285 degrees to Destroy Bomber either Before she bombs Tsili Tsili or on her way Back to Lae. Object of the Game: For Escorts and Bomber to win they must Take off and Fly to Tslil Tsili and Fly over the Airfield NO HIGHER than 10,000 Ft Bomber Calls Bombs away then must turn and make it back and successfully land at Lae. Bug Fixes Collision Fix One of the more annoying bugs in CFS concerns collision detection. The default settings allow for two seconds, this can cause you to collide with an aircraft 70 to 150 feet away! The fix for this is simple and everybody should do it. As this involves changing a file essential to CFS2 it is recommended you backup the original before making any changes. Before starting ensure CFS2 is NOT running. Locating the CFS2.cfg file:- 1. Click the start button 2. Click on 'Search' 3. Click on 'For files or Folders' A large search window will open. In the Filename box type CFS2.cfg and click the 'Search' button. The file is highlighted in 'search results' double click on it and a dialogue box will appear asking what file you want to use to open it with. Scroll down the list and select 'Notepad' Notepad will open the file, scroll down until you see the line '[MULTIPLAYER]' a few lines below you will see the line COLLISION_SECS=2 change this to read COLLISION_SECS=1 now all you need to do is save the file. Some players have been setting COLLISION_SECS to a negative value. This is pointless for several reasons, firstly all players need to have same value or it doesn't work and secondly where a squad do this and practice together they allow themselves to get unrealistically close. This leads to bad habits in a normal game and collisions become more frequent. Windows 98 & ME DirectX 8 & 8.0a Debugger Fix The boys at Microsoft left the debugging switch on in DirectX. This can affect your frame rates and eats up CPU cycles. Extract to Windows/System then go to Control Panel click on the Dx applet go to the Direct sound tab and slide the debug slider all the way to the left to disable debug mode. Download DxApplet 1kb Aces Missions Premature End Fix One of the biggest complaints about CFS2 is the single player missions ending abruptly. So if you're interested in these or want to offer them up on your page, here are the converted 'Ace' mission files in a zip. The 'goal' line has been deleted from all of the missions so that you wont be dumped after you down a few planes. All mission names have been prefixed with Ds so originals will not be overwritten. By Galleon@home.com Download 57.5kb CFS 2 Sound Fix Text file detailing how to fix problem with juddery or echoing sound. By FR_1LT_OneWing Download 1Kb CFS2 Multiplayer 'Unknown Soldier' fix Open cfs2.cfg in notepad, goto multiplayer and add the following line. SP_PLAYER_NAME=RAF_Wrongway substituting your own name of course :) By RAF_Wrongway German/French CFS2 will not let stock planes pass restrict This download contains the US Stock airfiles for CFS 2. After downloading extract each file to its appropriate folder. The old files are overwritten so OK any system warnings. Download 45Kb CFS2 VAL Rear gunner Fix Have you noticed that the rear gunner of the Val never pops out from the cockpit like the rear gunner on the Kate does? This patch on Nibbio's site will fix that! Download from Nibbio 2kb You can find the original post http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/CFS2/bugfixes.htm |

Communication Communication is a vital necessity, Roger Wilco (RW) is recommended but its use in flight should be limited to mission detail only, chattering hogs bandwidth, causes lag and may lead to a players call for help to not be heard. Only a team leader should use RW at any time in flight unless a pilot is in distress. Any pilot under attack should call out 'need help under attack by (attacker)' That is all the info that is necessary for assistance to be called. Team Play Firstly if you are aware of your opponents strongest threat you should ensure that he is at the least kept busy. Next target should be any plane re-entering the game after being shot down or any plane that is not being pursued or has not taken damage. Judging which of these options you should choose depends largely on the situation you are in. Judgement calls are not always easy but you will improve with practice. The least important targets to choose are those that are already being pursued, already severely damaged or planes that are obviously about to go in. Pursuing these targets are a waste of ammo and you are probably allowing a team mate to be attacked by another enemy. You should break off of any engagement to assist a team mate who is under attack. A pilot who goes off in pursuit of a glory kill ignoring the condition of his team mates is of no use to the team. Hitting the Enemy The fuselage can absorb a lot of hits and has little effect on aircraft performance, however hitting the wings particularly the tips will have a drastic effect on the plane. In a team game pursue your target until you believe it is sufficiently crippled to be of little threat to you or your team. Read the text in your damage info display, as soon as you see reports of damage to wing tips, rudder or elevator control it is time to assess how badly the plane is hurt and take appropriate action, pursue the kill or break and hit another target. Returning after being shot down You now have time to check each of your team mates condition and time to select the target that poses the greatest threat to your team. Restricted Ammo In all games whether or not ammo restrictions are in place you should practice the following: Only fire your weapons in short 1 to 4 second bursts. Where you have cannon, only use it in close range (after your target is taking hits from your guns if you have them). Game Views By hitting the [ key a new view window can be opened. By clicking on it and holding the mouse button down the window can be positioned anywhere on the screen. While it is selected (white border) it can be resized by dragging the corners or sides. The new view behaves the same as a normal window, allowing you to select chase, external or padlock views etc. You can also apply zoom to the view. In these examples padlock view is selected, enabling you to keep an eye on what your target is doing throughout engagement. It can also be used to check on positions of other opponents in the game. While selected all text will stream to the selected window, to switch to main window again click outside the new view. Combat Flight Simulator 2 Tweak guide
Posted on January 23, 2001 by Thomas McGuire Introduction Combat Flight Simulator 2 (CFS 2 from hereon in) takes the excitement, realism, & challenge of the original Combat Flight Simulator from the skies over Europe to the South Pacific for one of the fiercest air battles of World War II. Amid the Pacific Theater of Operations of 1941-43, players advance from rookie ensigns to fighter aces by engaging in one thrilling air battle after another. This guide will show you how to get the best out of CSF 2, be it improved graphics quality, audio quality, performance or whatever. Troubleshooting Install DirectX 8.0 on your system if not already installed. Drivers, it is essential to get the latest drivers for you video card & sound card. You can find links to many hardware manufacturers on our Drivers page. This can solve (some) display or audio problems you may have encountered. If you experience static noise or irregular audio playback, try the following (assuming that installing the latest drivers don’t fix the problems): Click on Start, Settings, then Control Panel. If you have Windows 2000 or Millennium Edition installed note the icon names as shown in brackets below. Open the Multimedia (Sounds & Multimedia) icon. Select the Audio tab & then hit the Advanced Properties (Advanced) button. Select the Performance tab. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to the 2nd notch from the left (Basic Acceleration). Move the Sample rate conversion quality slider to the middle notch (Improved sample rate converter). If you are having problems running the game (Performance or otherwise) on Windows 2000 then try checking our Windows 2000 Compatibility & Gaming Performance guide. Overclocking, CFS 2 can be sensitive to overclocking, if your system is overclocked & you have problems running CFS 2, e.g. lockups during the game, try restoring the system or graphics card to its default speed, or applying more cooling. Discuss about this article in our forums... ! You can find the original post here http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/cfs2/index.shtml |

Advanced Image Quality/Performance Settings
for Combat Flight Simulator 2 Advanced Image Quality/Performance Settings for Combat Flight Simulator 2 10 January 2001 One of our main development objectives for Combat Flight Simulator 2: WWII Pacific Theater was to improve the overall image quality and performance of the game. However, we also wanted to offer you flexibility to pursue image quality and performance tradeoffs that can fine-tune CFS2 to your system. With so many combinations of hardware and software available, it's impossible to replicate every configuration. So, we've added more graphics settings which can be adjusted to achieve the look and feel you want. This article will help you adjust those settings, which will help you create the best CFS2 experience. To make general adjustments to CFS2, you will use the Settings dialog box. To make fine-tuning adjustments, you will use the Advanced Settings dialog box. Using the Settings Dialog Box To open the Settings dialog box, go to the Options menu and click Settings . Figure 1: Settings Dialog VIEW LARGER IMAGE The Display section on the Settings dialog box includes a slider that sets the overall image quality . Moving the slider to the left reduces the complexity and graphic detail displayed, but increases the system performance. Conversely, moving the slider to the right improves the complexity and graphic detail displayed at the expense of system performance. You can also check the Auto-performance adjustment checkbox. When this box is checked, CFS2 adjusts several graphics settings to deliver the best performance for your system. The Player defined check box remains dimmed until you make adjustments in the Advanced Settings dialog box. Once you do that, you can restore default settings by deselecting the Player defined check box. Using the Advanced Display Settings Dialog Box To adjust individual display settings, click the Advanced settings button in the Settings dialog box. Figure 2: Advanced Display Settings-Hardware Dialog VIEW LARGER IMAGE The Advanced Display Settings dialog box contains two tabs at the top. Click the Hardware tab to see options for adjusting a 3-D graphics card. If you installed a 3-D hardware acceleration card, CFS2 recognizes it, automatically selects it under Device, and selects the Enable hardware acceleration check box. If you don't have a hardware acceleration card, this check box is unavailable. Settings in the Advanced 3-D hardware options area control functions on 3-D accelerator cards. The default settings reflect our best estimate of the settings that specific cards need to deliver the best performance. The following list briefly explains each option. No filtering: No filtering is applied to the textures on scenery and objects-they appear as pixels on the screen. This option improves system performance but reduces image quality. Bilinear filtering: Most 3-D cards support this option; filtering eliminates the "hard lines" between different textures. However, with this option selected, you may see "flashing" lines between textures or in the distance. Selecting this option slightly decreases performance. Trilinear filtering: This advanced filtering option tends to reduce the "flickering" when bilinear filtering is also selected, but reduces performance. We recommend always having this option checked. MIP mapping: This basic filtering method maps "layers" of texture sheets depending on some rather complex algorithms. We recommend always having this option checked, unless you see strange things with textures, such as textures turning black or in obviously wrong colors, or "flashing." Anti-aliasing: This option smoothes the edges of objects. Not all 3-D cards support this option, and selecting this option will reduce frame rate. With this option checked, you may also see "banding" in the sky. (Banding produces different shades of blue in the sky instead of a smooth transition from lighter to darker blue.) If you see banding, try changing your resolution to a 32 -bit mode (such as, 800 x 600 x 32 resolution). T&L (Hardware Transform and Lighting): This advanced hardware option controls how your video card handles transformations and lighting effects. Before you select this option, make sure your 3-D card supports this feature. Your system may become unstable if your video card cannot support T&L effects. Selecting this option may improve performance, but if you experience other display problems or if the game "hangs," uncheck this option. Resolution: This option controls the main image quality by defining the number of pixels drawn on the screen. Lower resolutions produce better performance, but higher resolutions improve visual details and image quality. Cockpit instruments look better at or above resolutions of 800 x 600, and the terrain always looks better at higher resolutions. Reducing resolution to 640 x 480 x 16 produces the best performance possible. Solving Display Problems Unless you experience problems, you should generally use the defaults for your 3-D graphics card. If you do experience problems, try the following steps in this order. Between each step, launch CFS2 to see if the problem is fixed. If it's not, try the next option in the list. Turn Anti-aliasing off. Turn T&L off. Set the Resolution to a lower value (lowest is 640 x 480 x 16). Select Bilinear filtering. Select No filtering. Turn MIP Mapping off. Uncheck the Enable hardware acceleration check box. You might also try checking for the latest drivers at your video card manufacturer's Web site. They should have the latest video drivers available for you to download. Sometimes old drivers can create video image quality problems. As a last resort, disable your 3-D graphics card. Adjusting Display Settings to Improve Image Quality If you're not having display problems with the default settings, you can change the following settings to improve image quality. Proceed in the order of the list, and launch CFS2 between each step to test the effects. If you don't notice any undesirable performance changes, then move to the next step. Select a higher resolution. Select the Trilinear filtering check box. Select the T&L check box. Select the Anti-aliasing check box. Adjusting Settings on the Image Tab The Overall image quality slider adjusts settings for each option on the Image Quality tab in the Display Settings dialog box. Figure 3: Advanced Display Settings-Image Quality VIEW LARGER IMAGE CFS2 applies a default setting for the value on the Overall image quality slider. Each value is a conservative estimate of the best tradeoff between image quality and performance. You can make fine-tuning adjustments with the individual settings to meet your performance expectations. DEM density level: This setting determines the maximum level of detail provided for terrain elevation data. Lower values result in better performance. Higher values result in more accurate terrain elevation at any given point. Max. terrain texture size: This setting determines the size of the textures placed on top of the terrain elevation data. Smaller sizes lower the memory requirements to store the texture, resulting in better performance. Larger textures produce greater detail and look better, but displaying them decreases performance. (To see detail on the ground at its best, move this slider up.) Terrain complexity level: This setting determines the error allowed within the terrain elevation data. Lower values allow more error, resulting in more "popping" in the terrain. Higher values result in displaying more terrain elevation data at one time. Increasing this value reduces popping, but also decreases performance dramatically. Max. object texture size: This setting determines the size of the textures placed on top of objects. Like the Max. terrain texture size setting, smaller sizes lower the memory requirements to store the texture, resulting in better performance. Larger textures produce greater detail and look better, but displaying them decreases performance. (To see detail on the airplanes at its best, move this slider up.) Maximum visibility level: This setting determines the range of visibility. Just as in real life, there is a limit to how far one can see in the distance on any given day. Decreasing visibility reduces the amount of objects and terrain your computer draws. Lower visibility results in better performance. Increasing the visibility allows you to see farther, but decreases performance. Aircraft shadows: This setting places shadows of aircraft on the ground or water. Normally these shadows won't reduce performance. Shadows look best in 32-bit color mode. See the Readme document in the CFS directory for more detail about resolution. Ground scenery shadows: This setting places shadows for ground objects. These shadows can dramatically reduce performance, especially when they are close to the object. Detail texturing: This setting makes ground textures flow together better, which gives more depth to the scenery. Selecting this option reduces performance slightly. Some video cards work better with this option selected. Other video cards may "flash" and create square patterns in the textures. If this occurs, make sure this check box is deselected. High detail virtual cockpit: This setting provides a higher level of detail in the Virtual Cockpit view but reduces performance. You may want to deselect this check box if you do not use the Virtual Cockpit views much. Effects quality: This setting adjusts the level of detail in all of the special effects, such as fire and smoke. Lower settings remove some of this detail and how long it stays visible. A higher setting shows the greatest level of detail in effects, but also reduces performance. LOD target frame rate: This setting works only when the Auto-performance adjustment check box is selected in the Settings dialog box (See Figure 1). The value for this setting is not tied to the default Overall image quality slider, but does default to an appropriate value for your configuration. The position of this slider determines the level of detail (LOD) required to maintain the selected frame rate. CFS2 normally selects the LOD depending on the distance between the object and the viewer. However, when the Auto-performance adjustment check box is selected, you can then adjust the LOD using the LOD target frame rate slider. For example, if you select an LOD target frame rate of 25, the detail of the textures changes as you get closer to that frame rate. So, if you were to experience 15 frames per second, CFS2 would decrease the level of detail until performance improves to 25 frames per second. If you were to experience 35 frames per second, CFS2 would increase the level of detail without allowing frame rate to fall below 25 frames per second. Adjusting Scenery There is one final area that concerns graphics and performance. In the Settings dialog box click the Scenery Library button to bring up the Scenery Library Dialog box. Figure 4: Scenery Library Dialog box and the Scenery Object Density Slider VIEW LARGER IMAGE The Scenery object density slider at the bottom determines how much scenery to use in the game. All non-targetable objects, such as trees and bunkers, in the global scenery layer are removed when the slider is set to Very Sparse . Lowering this setting improves performance, so adjust the slider if your other performance adjustments still do not meet your expectations. Note: The Scenery object density slider also determines how dense the objects are in scenery imported into CFS2 from previous versions of Combat Flight Simulator and Microsoft® Flight Simulator. Reviewing Display Settings As a guideline, the following list shows http://www.m |

Tips on how to add landing points in CFS2 all over the World. You will still need to install the Airfields corresponding sceneries form the Airfield designer for the Hangars and othe Infrstructure to show up.
I have in one of my install over 600 Airbases entries with XP. What you can do is to add on your backup external Hardrive three or four or perhaps more folders with Airbabes collection inside it from different Areas of the World for your different Installs. Write the name of the area you are covering on the folder. For example Airbases for Western Europe on the Folder that has the Airbases covering that Area with in it.You can repeat this process over and over again. Just copy it from the Folder that has the Airbases that you want to fly from for that day and paste it inside the Info folder in the install that you want to use. Thats it. You can use this method as many time as you like! I hope you like this information! |
Title: Re: New Links and Webs dedicated to CFS2? Post by james007 on Feb 25th, 2009 at 9:12am
If you do not want to use to many CFS2 Installs to be able to safe Hardrive space you can always do this.
If you know how to use the ACman you can the same through different war Era Hangars. For example you can place a folder inside of the ACman new Hangar and call it A1 ETO 1939-1942 and a diffrenent Folder inside at a different new Folder A1 ETO 1943-45 and so an. Then place the appropiate AC inside this new Hangars. If you are a observing person you will have noted that I wrote AI infront on the Folder with name of the Hangar. The reason is that this way the new name Aircraft Hangar Folder named will show up in top of the Aircraft folder name at the top list. This way you can idenfity the new Hangar every time you active the ACman Utility. You can obtain the ACman Utility here http://fly.to/mwgfx A WORD OF CAUTION When you use the Acman and create a new Hangar you need to include the stock planes. What you can do is to make a New Folder and place a copy of the Stock planes in it. When you make the new Hangar just copy the stock planes from this Folder. Remember also that you are limit to 95 to 100 planes per Hangar. You do get up to18 Hangar with this program. This way you can safe space in your Hardrive and accomplish the same result of having different Era in the same Install! Its call mk_cfs2_uti2v.zip 2.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=downloads&page=downloads&FileType=cfs2-utilities |

Thanks for that link. :) I was looking for the VTP1Fix.zip for ages since Sander's website went AWOL. It is used to fix the small "white" anomalies when designing shorelines and coasts(where there are none) etc with Ground2K. |

Have you notice how some times the AC behave unlike what we expext it to react and fly. For example some time fighter that fly like Bombers and Bomber who like to Dogfight instead of flying like a Bomber should. well is the a list Categories you can use change all that.
unit_family= 1 - Fighter (default) 2 - Bomber 3 - Ground vehicle 4 - Static object 5 - Ship or boat 7 - carrier Category= 1 - aircraft fighter 2 - aircraft level bomber (B-24, He-111) 3 - aircraft dive bomber (Stuka, Dauntless, Val) 4 - aircraft torpedo bomber (Avenger, TBF) 5 - aircraft tactical bomber (A-20, Ju-88) 6 - aircraft strike (Fw-190F2, A-4; 2-engine nightfighters?) 7 - aircraft civil 8 - aircraft recon (Storch) 9 - aircraft transport (C-47) 10 - aircraft fighter-bomber (any fighter equipped with bombs) or Dive Bombers Category codes for non-aircraft objects: 13 - ship aircraft carrier 14 - ship cruiser 15 - ship destroyer 16 - ship submarine 17 - ship battleship 18 - ship patrol 19 - ship auxiliary 21 - tracked vehicle 22 - wheeled vehicle 23 - train car 24 - amphibious vehicle 29 - artillery static 30 - mechanical equipment 31 - structure static 32 - factory 33 - non-target object 34 - runway You can do this by going to the Combat Flight Simulator folder/Aircraft/B25 for example and open with notepad and open the DP file. Scroll down to where it says [MISC_DATA]. [MISC_DATA] unit_family=1 category=5 allegiance=3 max_group_size=8 min_speed=240 cruise_speed=339 max_speed=509 min_alt=50 cruise_alt=5080 max_alt=7620 entered_service=1/1/42 crew=5 Now you change its unit family unit to where it should be 2.Now should fly fly fight like a Tacticle Bomber should and not like a fighter when attack. Simple! |

Have you ever wonder how to make your Ships look more Dynamic while sailing in CFS2?
Here is how! Go to your Ship Folder located inside the CFS2 folder. Go to the SHA_ENTERPRISE_CV-6 folder as a example.Open the the file call Ship with notepad and scroll down to where it says [Dynamics] pitch_wave_moment_scale = 1 bank_wave_moment_scale = 1 pitch_damp_moment_scale = 1 bank_damp_moment_scale = 1 Play around with the numbers until you get the roll and pitch you desire from any ship. Just remember it might be harder to takeoff and Land from Carrier thus it bit more reallistic. |

Thanks James, appreciate the reply and link my friend! I didn't know that this had been spoken of just last month.
I happened to be at the TrackIR site and was looking through their forums where one post in particular mentioned why won't the TrackIR folks make it happen for CFS2. You may even know the thread. Anyway I read a response that basically stated that it was a sim too old and that it wouldn't basically be a worthwhile endeavor for the company. That is how I interpreted the response. A few posts later however this same person stated that they would indeed look into the feasibility of making it work. That was the end of the talk about it so to speak. What a shame, not enough $$ to write what I assume would be the needed code. When I posted here I had simply exhausted all leads to more info that I thought might exist and figured I'd get more insight into this. Oh well, so much for cheap thrills! Am I correct in thinking GlovePIE will work with TrackIR hardware, is that correct? I ask because this is venturing to an area I have absolutely no expertise in. It's not that I am not inclined mind you...just have never gotten into this end of our hobby to put it mildly. Thanks again for the response James. |
